CNN has uncovered disturbing evidence of human rights atrocities by Russian mercenaries in the Central African Republic. CNN's Clarissa Ward and her team were denied entry to the country because of CNN's previous reporting on the activities of the mercenaries. But working with local journalists and an independent investigative group The Sentry, CNN has assembled evidence of a pattern of abuses, which one UN expert says may amount to war crimes.

That’s because mercenaries and contractors are not the same thing….. The US hires ex military members who seek out private training from companies like thunder ranch, who go into war zones on contract. That’s not the same as a mercenary. Mercenaries would be like if the US were in Afghanistan, and were hiring locals, arming them and paying them to fight with them.
@Shady If you are from a smaller community, go ask your local sheriff how many of his men have become ‘contractors’. Probation and parole officers are recruited as are all LEOs, now in the police forces or not. My point is, when they talk to each other about it, they don’t use the term “contractor” they say Merc. The “defense contractors” here actively recruit on military bases without much interference.
The good thing about the russian “Wagner Group” is that the US is free to kill them without the fear of russian retaliation. In 2018 during an american airstrike in Syria american bombers have killed something between 100 and 200 russian mercenaries.
@Harry Johnstone Yeah you’re just flat out wrong about that, I know people who were with black water in Falluja. Go look up Mookie, he’s talked about this exact topic. He has a YouTube channel. They never refer to themselves as mercenaries. Unless they’re talking to somebody who isn’t familiar with black water, in that case they might use the word mercenary because contractor could mean anything.
