It’s not JUST history, it’s ongoing. Recall that the DNC and RNC email servers were both hacked by Russians. The DNC dirt was aired to the public to great effect during the previous election. The RNC emails were not released. I believe that Putin still has kompromat over the GOP. They are not just the party of plutocrats and fundamentalists, they are actively being influenced by an enemy of the USA. They are an existential threat to your democracy. And by extension, to the very concept of Western democracy in general.

He also he asserted on his House website that he once “arrested 300 illegal aliens in a single day,” which would have been quite a feat, since US attorneys don’t have arrest authority.
His lack of experience is almost certain to make Ratcliffe an ineffective DNI, a position that has little direct power.
The biggest danger Ratcliffe poses is to the integrity of the job of director of national intelligence in the first place; the core principle of the intelligence professional is to speak truth.
