Russia claims it hit a US-made Patriot air defense system

The Russian Defense Ministry claimed it destroyed a US-made Patriot air defense system in Kyiv in a missile strike. CNN has not seen any independent or verifiable evidence that a Patriot system was destroyed. CNN’s Nic Robertson reports. #CNN #News

    1. they killed more then a million Ukros, taken 1/5 of the country, and destroyed its Naval and Air force…and Ukroland is holding on only because of 300+ billon of money and equipment from the whole collective west… not that bad for One single country

  1. A Patriot battery is comprised of 6 launchers with 16 rockets each plus command center and radars.
Which are at a considerable distance from each other. You would need to hit each component with a missile or drone. So even if the battery was hit, I doubt too much of it was damaged, maybe just one component that can be replaced

    1. Also there are decoys, especially for the radars. The Russians may have been correct in thinking they hit the system, but they hit a decoy.

    2. Не на часi Like he said there are many launch sites so even damaging one won’t take the system down at all.

    3. @Arceus Thomas Those are most valuable, especially the command center, as it houses the operators as well, and it takes months to train new ones. But everything else can be easily replaced, in a matter of hours.
US has a budget of 800 billion dollars a year. So even if Russia hits the Patriot batteries with every Kinzhal, they would still go bankrupt and face a revolution at home or simply stop as it won’t be any money left to produce more weapons.
It’s just boring basic math. Might take years and a lot of lives, but Russia can’t win, as it’s 30 times poorer than the West.

  2. There must have been a delay by mistake at the MOD, – usually this happends before the equipment are even delievered !

    1. Their hypersonic missile ran into a Patriot missile and the Russian’s are calling that a win?…hahahaha

    2. @david soul how much did that hypersonic missile cost compared to the Patriot missile that did what it was designed to do?…lol
Maybe your looker is broken too?

  3. Let’s just take Russia’s word at face value. Unless the command vehicle or radar vehicle is hit, a Patriot system will still be operational even if it loses a launcher vehicle or two.

  4. No, the F-16 is the jet of choice because a lot of NATO countries are getting rid of theirs anyways, because they’re switching to F-35’s. According to top analysts the SAAB Gripen would be a better plane for the UAF, but the Swedes just don’t have any to give away. Same with the Eurofighter Typhoon.

    1. @Edward Valivonis LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  5. If all 18 Russian incoming missiles and drones were intercepted, how did Russia hit/take out a battery? It would’ve been intercepted quite a ways away, and whilst falling debris could injure the battery or set a building, forest, steppe/plains on fire, I just see a Patriot system (being made for a warfront) being a bit less susceptible to damage from debris.

    1. The video I saw showed 2 massive explosions, sending up huge mushroom clouds. So the question is…was it a downed missile that caused the explosion, or was a battery actually hit and the patriot missiles exploded? Just have to wait for clarification I suppose.

  6. People always say “how come ww1 started over nothing? How come hitler invaded Poland?”
We are in a situation, where seemingly regional events can unfortunately very quickly become world conflicts

    1. People who would say Russia invaded Ukraine over nothing is ignorant to what lead up to the invasion.

    2. @Npc 24 I’m still trying to find out the truth about it. US media won’t really tell us. Not honestly.

    3. @JOHN’S GUITAR, MUSIC AND DEMOS you can search Redacted. You’ll definitely get an understanding of the events leading up to this conflict

    1. russia resist ukraine support united states army patriot(러시아애 대항해 우크라이나 지원하는 미국 육군은 애국자)😠

    2. Russia might as well have announced, “We don’t understand what a Patriot Air System is!” Given that each unit comprises several vehicles, kilometres apart, and given that we haven’t seen a nuclear mushroom or Daisy Cutter blast, anyone who knows what a Patriot System is KNOWS Russia didn’t hit squat!

  7. Apparently Russia doesn’t know the difference between an air defense system and an apartment building. This explains a lot.

    1. We’re admitting it was struck. A billion of our tax dollars wasted. But, hey, Glory to Ukraine, right? LOL.

  8. even the patriot system was damaged, it still accomplished a very significant task, i.e. intercepting barrages of hypersonic missiles.

    1. Yeah but it was hit. You always launch multiple missiles in order to overwhelm the site. Russia sends 100 cruise missiles at once to overwhelm Ukraines S-300 systems. When Trump ordered a massive strike against Syria, they launched like 75 tomahawk missiles, because most would get shot down.

    2. No it won’t, no command and control system or no radar system means the its combat ineffective, think about it.

  9. Why do they keep asking this man when he’s going to attack? It has to be the dumbest question ever asked in the history of man. ❤ GOD Bless Everyone

  10. A single patriot system consists of multiple vehicles/trailers. These vehicles/trailers includes several radar units, a power supply unit, a command and control vehicle, and probably at least a half dozen launchers (each carrying between 4 and 16 missiles) spread over an area that is far too large for a single hit to take out more than two elements.
