OFFICIAL FUNERAL FOR MR PHILLIP K WILLIAMS, FORMER SENATOR IN THE PARLIAMENT OF DOMINICA

Roseau, Dominica – Friday, April 17, 2015 – The Government of Dominica has afforded the late Phillip K Williams on Official Funeral on Saturday, April 18, 2015. The Government of Dominica has declared Saturday, April 18, 2015 an official day of mourning as a mark of respect for the late Phillip K Williams, former Senator in the House of Assembly.

The Dominican Flag will be flown half-staff on all public buildings in the State on the day of mourning, Saturday, April 18, 2015/ On November 3, 1978 Phillip K Williams was nominated by the Dominica Freedom Party to serve as a Senator in the House of Assembly, a position he held till June 26, 1979. He was also a member of the LaPlaine Village Council from 1963 to 2000 serving as Chairman from 1967 to 1997.

In 1997 Phillip K Williams was awarded Dominica’s third highest award, the Meritorious Service Award.
He worked as an agriculturist, overseer, insurance agent and farmer during his extensive career that
spanned over seven decades.

Phillip K Williams was born in LaPlaine on December 24, 1923. He leaves to mourn his wife Stephanie
and children Davenport, Earline, Ervin, Fitzroy, Gifford, Heather, Ingrid, Jefferson, Oswald, Primrose and
Reginald.

His Excellency, the President Charles Savarin and Mrs Savarin, Prime Minister the Honourable Roosevelt
Skerrit and Mrs Skerrit, and other members of Cabinet, Honourable Alix Boyd-Knights, Speaker and
other members of parliament, members of the Diplomatic Corps and other Government Officials are
expected to attend the Official Funeral for the late Phillip K Williams.

Public viewing shall be from 2:00pm at the LaPlaine Baptist Church. The Official Funeral Service will
commence at 3:00pm. The late Phillip K Williams will be laid to rest at the LaPlaine CUM Cemetery. All
official mourners are requested to be in their seats no later than 2:45pm.
