The Supreme Court on Tuesday verified that a leaked draft opinion published by Politico in the most important abortion case in decades was an authentic document but pushed back on the notion that it represented the final decision of the court.
RELATED: Roe v. Wade protests outside Supreme Court after reported leak of draft opinion
Lawmakers and congressional candidates wasted little time Monday reacting to the news of a draft Supreme Court opinion published by Politico suggesting the court is considering a decision that would overturn the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that established a constitutional right to abortion.
The issue of abortion was already a hot-button issue in key races across the country in advance of November's mid-term elections.
But the report that the high court was potentially closer to reversing the nearly 50-year-old ruling – and letting states decide what abortion restrictions to enact – sparked outrage from progressives and cheers from conservatives running in state and federal elections nationwide.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., issued a joint statement saying "the Supreme Court is poised to inflict the greatest restriction of rights in the past fifty years – not just on women but on all Americans," if the report is accurate.

Dislike we all knew they court was ruined when they wouldn’t take ele ction frau,d case
Right? This country is fucked
Dislike is at 1K
@j m not youtube dislikes proving further how useless the citizens are are forming an opinion on human rights
They got rid of the dislike button cause the white house page was getting ratioed hard af. Idk what the official reason they gave was, but this is the real one!
@j m how can you tell
Are we back to “my body – my choice”???
Over your own body not someone else AKA the fetus/baby/human being
yeah. Vaccines are almost finished now. 😂
@Nicolas Segura dead aslllllll
It’s just taking the authority from. Government and shifting it to the states…Don’t see issue
If you live in those states then your screwed if you need an abortion. Nobody needs the hassle of traveling to a different state if they even can. States rights? You know the same arguement was used to keep slavery legal right?
@Tokenetta Theres no comparison. Shame on you. The constitution outlawed slavery. There is no constitutional right to abortion.
gots to get me that abortion. what percentage of people NEED an abortion. yes they should be allowed and are in most states. this changes nothing.
Seems to me like an attempt to incite an insurrection.
@CC True.
I’m from the Board of Disinformation: Please expand and clarify what you are inferring.
just in time for summer of love 2.0 and the mid term elections never has a draft been leaked
No fetus can beat us!
It will go to the states.
And the 50% increase on food at the grocery store?
People love it! Apparently.
Nothing can really be done about that, America’s never going to put price caps on
feel free to go and protest that
A brilliant distraction.
In government, there’s no such thing as coincidence.
well just look up what happened in Romania after they banned abortion to see where this country is headed
No one’s full out banning abortions they’re leaving the decisions on abortion deadlines to the states and not the federal gov as it should be.
Your comment makes no sense
If only people would protest this hard against inflation.
@Andrew O’Dell thanks
@Andrew O’Dell yea I’m a troll so just move along and tell people that inflation was caused by supply chain. Hopefully you dont run into people who knows a thing or two about economics and monetary policy.
@MostlySunny well, I can’t say I’m not just a little disappointed to be deprived of the education you seem to often refer to, yet decline to display. But you are kind to be honest, so best of luck in your trolling, sir.
@Andrew O’Dell instead of being disappointed try picking up a book or two regarding this topic. Way better than you spouting off and misleading people, but I’m a troll so whatever.
Did the breach come from Sonia Sotomayor’s office? She openly sad she “Smelled the stench of politics when it came to Roe V Wade.”
It’s said a fox smells it’s own hole first! ❤️🙏
I’m looking for pro-abortion comments here and I have found few. And of those comments, none were sagacious
Do you think using a thesaurus makes you look smarter?
How can so many people know what a woman is? Are they really all biologists??
No, they just don’t purposely misinterpret what someone else is saying for a lame gotcha
Isn’t going to happen, Civic Duty or representation of our Nation? Everyone is open minded and disgraceful and disrespectful to that Flag and then? There’s Civilians like me? I am a Veteran and I enlisted on my own and everything? Why not? I was 17 and I figured let’s try something and 4 months later I was 18 and stationed in Fort Jackson, SC for basic and it wasn’t that bad
My uncle enlisted at 17 too and went straight to Vietnam as a sniper. Thats right. He actually volunteered* to go to Vietnam. He came back with lung damage from Agent Orange that left him constantly out of breath, and eventually, on oxygen the rest of his life. He died prematurely due to it last year. Whenever I asked him how he felt about people burning the flag and taking a knee during the anthem etc because it made me mad at first, he’d said that he wouldn’t have fought for a country that didn’t allow its citizens to express their criticisms of the government. Because being forced to honor your country means nothing. But to see people honor their country simply because they love their country, and no other reason, is the most beautiful thing.
He changed my mind about criticism of the government and flag burning and anthem kneeling.
They have to try something to excite the base!
…yeah cause either sides’ base was keeping their opinions to themselves.
Excite? This is your idea of excitement? We could have a full scale revolution and you’re calling it excite??
The person that leaked this is a hero. Everyone has a right to body autonomy
Straight up! Kudos to Politco for doing it’s job and to whoever had the courage to bring the document forward.
@yosiah1 I am from Texas, this isnt that big of a deal. Each state has their own laws. If you dont like your state laws you can move or vote better in local and state elections. Im pro choice but at same time Abortion shouldnt be a birth control method. Move states or travel to have this procedure if its that big of an impact on your life.
@Shauna M Traveling for the procedure is a potential option but financially speaking that is not possible for many individuals and will vary largely depending on proximity of it’s availability. To what degree the states will ban abortion is yet to be seen but I have heard some projections around 20 would ban it. Not sure what you mean by it shouldn’t be a birth control option, considering the procedure itself is a form of birth control as it revolves around reproductive health care.
You should leave this decision up to the child
My MOS was 13D, and I went to Fort Sill, OK for AIT and this job rocked
No ma’am, this hasn’t been native land in many hundreds of years.
i havent seen the democrats so mad since the slaves were freed
They’ll be protesting all the way to November, that is the plan anyway, and the reason for the leak.
I love hearing “my body, my choice” again after two years of trying to force masks & jabs on us.
