Ringo Starr Looks Back At How His Life Changed In 1964 | Morning Joe | MSNBC
It’s difficult to believe this guy is 80 in July.
Mary Rodger lol 👍
@Russell Newton I was just turning 14 when the Beatles arrived and can remember it being on all 3 networks during the 5 o’clock evening news. Then when they appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show what can I say…I knew I was in love with all 4. ;o)
@Mary Rodger It was right after the Kennedy assassination. A few months later. That’s why I remember their arrival. I was a lot more interested Motown and the beginnings of soul music. I didn’t really appreciate the Beatles until years later.
It is very difficult to believe there is no grey either. He looks like a fool!
Peter D Ya! And smoked like a Liverpool factory chimney since he was a kid.
I think Ringo’s coffee-table picture-books’ proceeds go to charities; seems that’s what I recall from NPR reporting
Starr to the Orange Creep, “Day after day Alone on a hill The man with the foolish grin Is keeping perfectly still But nobody wants to know him They can see that he’s just a fool And he never gives an answer But the fool on the hill Sees the sun going down And the eyes in his head See the world spinning ’round”..🤪 😜
Dittzx Like written for him 😂
No, no, no. Paul said the “Fool on the Hill” was like a guru, who is still when the world is in chaos and who is thought a fool when he can comprehend the world. This is the exact opposite of Trump.
I especially like the line “he never gives and answer”. Like the line from the Tao Te Ching “The Tao that can be spoken is not the true Tao.”
@Jeff Foehringer
True, but if you take the words on face value, there is quite a resemblance 🙂
Great Interview!!!! I’m JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent! Thank you Joe for interviewing Ringo. I attended the Ringo All Star concert! Brings back memories of the 60’s. Very emotional listening to his interview and seeing the pictures from a past era. 👏👍
Fantastic interview with Ringo Starr Joe. Thank you Joe and Mika for always having the best people on your show, love you guys
Awesome! Glad for you and always nice to hear from the Beatles.
“…in oh, so many ways…”
For those of you who are too young to remember those heady days,
you have my sympathies.
“And, in the end,
the love you take.
is equal to the love you make.”
Great interview! So strange I was just thinking of Ringo and The Beatles “Yesterday.”
I think “that girl” might have been Mary Chapin Carpenter and she did a fabulous job with the song.
Ringo is the most truthful Beatle and he is definitely the funniest one although Paul comes in a close second in those two categories.
Ringo’s impeccable wit and droll humor are priceless!
His explanation of the beauty salon remark and its immortal power in haunting him had me in stitches!
He has the incredible timing and delivery of the late George Burns and Jack Benny. He’s now my favorite FORMER! Beatle.
Full of humor, wit, and youthful energy.
Ringo is a world caliber asset to our culture and to the rest of the world.
He’s the best!
My mom was a Beatlemaniac I remember being very small standing in a long line with her at the record store for the latest album. It was the IPhone at that time. I still love their music and sharing it with my 5 year old grandson, who also loves their music.
Taking a break from politics on the eve of impeachment inquiry into, Great interview on life and music
The best Band that ever was. MAGIC Genius.
Anyone on this thread who has not seen “Carpool Karaoke” with Paul McCartney should look it up immediately.
“The Girl” who covered Grow Old along with Me is Mary Chapin Carpenter haha – it’s on Working Class Hero: The Definitive Lennon (1995)
I just love when he takes a little music time off to talk about The Beatles,
Ringo was always my favorite Beatle.
I knew the moment I noticed Joe had an interview with Ringo Starr that it was going to be a great interview. Joe’s a musician, plays Upper West Side at the Prohibition Club sometimes, mingles with the people, and so I just knew this would be a great moment for him that he would be ready for. Thanks Joe.
