The Kremlin has yet to present physical evidence supporting the Russian government’s claim that it foiled an attempt by Ukraine on President Vladimir Putin’s life with a drone attack, although videos have surfaced that purport to show the attack — including what appears to be the shooting down of a drone — and its aftermath. CNN military analyst Col. Cedric Leighton (ret.) analyzes videos of the alleged attack. #CNN #News

No one with a lick’a sense has any reason to believe a word old man Vladimir says
Yeah, Biden and Zelensky are so honest….please
Rule #1 in international politics: Never trust Russia on anything.
I’m amazed anyone would believe anything CNN says
I’m beginning to think this was staged.
and/or an inside job
@novak1928 So did Bush and Tony Blair
Just like 9/11?
Looks like a FPV drone with a cherry bomb strapped to it. What a joke Phewtin.
Things were so quiet around the world with the last WH guy. Now, everything is falling apart.
That’s just a quad copter , has a range of about 10 miles or less if it carried any explosives. The long range drones are the size of a jet fighter.
@Jotunheim It could be an n-copter maintaining a horizontal orientation. (We had a quadcopter for our college’s student EE lab that was almost a meter in diameter.) Also, did the original video look like this? This video with the fireball was released some 12 hours later. The original apparently did not have a visible fireball. This has more on the timing of the video releases: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAIJJbtO91w
@Tom D There was no anti aircraft missile, you would clearly see it launched. Those also can’t shoot down tiny drones effectively. Other networks reported it was forced down with electronic warfare but maybe it was an aa gun.
@Danylo Kosmyna I have a small drone and have been curious how to extend the range. Any advice?
The drone looks like as if it has a range of under 100 meters. 😀
Am I the only one who doesn’t see any AA in that video? An AA missile would have left a trail and AA guns use tracer rounds. That drone was clearly blowing itself up (because the Russian controller told it to) before it could do severe damage to the building.
@Jarl S OK, right. So that’s why it blew itself up a safe distance from the dome of the building. LOL.
@capusvacans Why risk a ricochet damaging your buildings with AA fire when you can just throw the switch and blow it up with RC?
@astatalan If it were a laser powerful enough to bring that thing down, you would have seen it in the video.
@EV3 Dale Seen those “anti drone electronic jamming rifle” type of things?
@astatalan 😂
It’s like a 4 year old trying to get you to believe they DID brush their teeth.
That is just an awesome comment. I needed a good chuckle while drinking my morning coffee. Thank you very much!
So you have no teeth, after your mom tried to get you to brush? Got it.
@Bill bob makes no sense but ok
@David Lester let’s all stop fighting in the threads it’s upsetting my brunch let’s all just rejoice that America has again lost America is on life support, don’t worry Putins time will come soon.
It’s not a drone attack. It’s a “special aerial operation.”
The main goal of this attack is probing and reconnaissance, and secondary goal is intimidation
@PH-op7kf are they though? We are still waiting on Russias response to the Nordstream pipeline. Russia sure does issue a lot of threats but not a lot of action.
It’s a aRRahu akbar attaku
Rip in advance
Putin wants to cancel the parade, but needs an excuse.
no tanks left😂
@zizinnnnThey could dig out some WW2 era tanks!
If only it’s something so innocent 🥺
@michaellinkroum4803 they are all in Ukraine and most are destroyed now.
My assumption too, or at least he wants to excuse himself from the attendance.
“I do not support what your country has done to Ukraine…you should pull out and I don’t think it’s right and we will continue to support because the rest of the world sees it just as it is.” These Kevin McCarthy words hurt Putin more then anyone imagined or expected!😳
Kev grew some morals?
Marge won’t be happy!
That was such a small drone. Smaller than a standard firework.
@Mike80528 Exactly. But try telling these armchair experts that.
My question is, why do the people climbing the dome appear to be wearing heat resistant suits? Its almost like they were they to prevent a fire from spreading before they knew there would be one 🤔
Also, why would such a small drone make such a fireball (that’s not how explosive payloads work) and conincidentally explode right next to a flag?
You’re starting to catch on to what really happened.
@IIIRoman A drone that size (compared to the two guys in fire-resistant suits) can carry around 25 kg of explosives. An explosive (shell) capable of penetrating and shredding likely wouldn’t create a fireball that big. But on the other hand, that wasn’t the fireball of a full 25 kg of just flame powder wrapped in paper either. That was just a nice little pyro-technic display for the cameras courtesy of Putin meant to convince the gullible but not meant to do much more than put a couple scorch marks and scratches on the dome. Notice there were no contrails coming off of shrapnel going in all directions because there WAS no shrapnel.
I am fascinated by the Kremlin claiming or admitting an attack on Moscow from 300 miles away. It means they are more concerned with scaring the Russian people into fighting than they are about extremely embarrassing military and air defenses that would lead to discouraging Russians.
I am absolutely sure that drones were launched by Americans from the American embassy in Russia. The drone was launched INSIDE from Moscow at the Kremlin. Who could do it? either Ukrainians (there are a lot ukrainians in Moscow as refugees) or Americans. For example, your new anerican ambassador in Moscow.
@xtrip x I’m not. I think there might be a bit of a language barrier here and you are missing the snark.
@Cassandra My point is don’t assume this is some major failure of the Russian government if a small object like a Drone could avoid detection.
There is zero excuse for the Balloon. Both the US and Canada missed it and while flying high it’s far more observable than a small object that can hide from detection in the ground clutter.
@Yellow Tunes dude stop, the United States has the best air defense system in the world. Israel is a close second with their’s.
I always enjoy watching the Colonel`s expertise. He knows exactly what he`s talking about. Appreciated. Thanks.
That’s why he got run out of Afghanistan ?
Thoughts and Prayers to that drone and its family. What was Putting expecting? flowers or a nerve agent.
Good analysis – thank you!
Basically punching yourself in the face to accuse someone else of abuse.
It does make me worry a bit that Putin is trying to create an excuse to do something horrific!
he already has-
Exactly like the usa did many times….wmd, etc
Something horrific like…
Eating chinese bats?
He’ll an unstable monster alread,y so will nuke without any excuse. Its clearly a false flag as no damage
You mean like what he did in Chechnya in the nineties?
The camera isn’t stable showing that a person is holding it, yet they don’t move the camera to follow the drone and the cameraman isn’t visibly shaken or surprised by the explosion.
The Kremlin, drones, a celebration parade, two people running on the roof . This is something straight from a Mission Impossible movie
lol best comment bro
A good insight into this from a military mind.
Very informative & interesting to the average non-military civillian who is interested in these things.
