Remember, the Republicans brought us the War in Vietnam, the War on Drugs, the War on Terror, the War in Iraq, the War in Afghanistan (all wars with no clear enemy and no clear path to victory, while costing us trillions of dollars), and “trickle down economics” that paralyzed middle class wages for four decades – all before Trump ever thought about running for President. Meanwhile, they crashed the economy every chance they got, leaving the Democrats to clean up their messes. And, all they have to offer their voters is continued rule by white men, racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, religious bigotry, and continued corruption in every conceivable way.

I’m 32, part of the millennial generation. A moderate. A Veteran. And I’m about to graduate from college. What I see in the Republican party today is:
-An abject and utter failure in leadership, when held to any standard I was taught in military service.
-An embrace of Authoritarian government counter to our democratic ideals.
-A nativist and racial sentiment which undermines both our immigrant story and demonizes current migrants.
-A hypocritical approach to morality.
-A willingness to curry fear and stoke division for political gain.
I see today’s Republican’s as weak and a stain upon their once cherished ideals and principals. They embrace a man who is counter to their own once-held beliefs, painting them as a political force which should be abolished for the good of this nation. Today’s true Republican can only face acceptance to a cult, or leave their party and reform something they can once again be proud of.
