  1. There can’t be supply without demand. And likewise there is no Trump without his cult followers. And the latter make up the more dangerous part of the equation because the leader doesn’t even need to be in a appointed position of power for the group to continue to worship, obey and act.

    1. @Marcos Juarez What do you mean “proportional representation”? It doesn’t have to be Manichean. Representation will of course be different in different states. But speaking of that, maybe also time for the Electoral College to go, and to herald in a one-person-one vote system. America is ripe for it. It really doesn’t need the electoral college anymore, which was designed in a time period lacking in modern technology.

    2. @Marcos Juarez In those days, people didn’t have fast and easy transport or the internet, so they elected certain persons to travel to the capitol to convey how their state voted. The other reason was to avoid a populist vote, but as is obvious, neither of those reasons are applicable anymore, since as we saw with Trump, electors don’t really have the power anymore to override the people’s vote when they’d made a bad choice.

  2. Republican party, is not the Republican party anymore and that is the sad truth.
With that in mind, they should not even be allowed near a can opener without supervision.

  3. Stability and continuity is a pretty crass euphemism for two centuries of fighting against progress topped by 30 years of overt obstructionism.

  4. It’s pretty funny, how you americans think you are a democracy, but only have two parties. You are not a real democracy!

    1. unfortunately here in america we have way too many idiots who could care less or are just straight slow.

  5. Democracy.. Realy? How Manny of your congress members are to scared to vote for what they think.

    1. Well, actually they should not vote for what they think, but what would be best for their constituents… but only a handful of progressive Democrats seem to grasp that concept…

    1. @Buff Straw The point is that you can hardly claim democracy if all you have is 2 right-wing parties. The majority of the American people see their interests represented by neither.

  6. The Republicans want to destroy the USA.and they don’t want the Democrats to do the work that the Republicans never did.

  7. The country is too large for a 2 party government, in Ireland we have far more choice and we are a small country.

  8. I use to be moderate but seeing what the republicans party has turned into over the years going back to when Clinton was in office is disgusting and has pushed me further to the left. They are the ultimate hypocrites. And there hypocrisy know no bounds.

    1. The problem is that you constantly have elections – every two years there is either a Senate, Congress or presidential election. These elections are unlike mayoral and city elections because they are two party elections. Most nations have one election for government every 3, 4, or 5 years, thus having at least 2 years without political noise.

  9. Their fear of having a lifelong target on their back is overshadowed by their towering political greed to stay important and powerful. HISTORY WILL REMEMBER.

    1. @Rolyat Neek it means: a fire located in a dumpster is most likely being fueled by the trash it is burning, and will run out of fuel and burn itself out.

      Physics. Science. Learn some.

  10. Stop dividing chairs that they all sit on, mix them all together alternating red/blue so they all get used to sitting next to each other and share ideas and get along more in the long run, respect each other more. Where you sit makes a big difference to how you treat someone. Sitting with your mob doesn’t bring the best out in people

    1. Nice sentiment, but if you mixed them all together they wouldn’t be able to scheme, which would take all the fun out of it for them. So I don’t think they would agree to it. Cheers
