Republican didn’t want the press at his event. So CNN got creative

Pennsylvania Republican gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano is leaning into Trump's big lie about the 2020 election in his pursuit of the statehouse. When Mastriano decided to prohibit news outlets from attending one of his campaign rallies, CNN's Kyung Lah and her team had to get creative.

  1. Who would vote for a coward. If he has such strong convictions he should not worry about the press.

    1. I would hardly call him a coward. He is a highly decorated veteran and has served this country well for a very long time. You have freedom to say these things because of his sacrifice and those sacrifices of the United States military to uphold and preserve our Constitution.

    1. @Peter Seymour you can reverse a baptism or a christening anytime…you should look up the process it’s not as easy as you think and not taken lightly…also, not everyone believes in that, personally I don’t see the need in it

    1. Very frightening we are looking to real Americans to get us back on track make sure we are voting if this nonsense doesn’t energize us nothing will vote blue whatever u do!!

  2. I’m just happy to see old school journalism at work. If they don’t want you to see, then you find a way.

    1. @Mitzi Oldendorf didn’t mean anything when the “jury” especially the head “jurist” said when the impeachment was actually announced they would never consider any evidence or testimony. McConnell said the Senate vote would be no. Hell McConnell help prep Trump for his first impeachment trial. Like Trump was ever in trouble with Mitch as Senate leader.

  3. This rally looked and sounded like a pseudo Christian criminal running for office in a low budget comedy movie.

  4. As someone who’s worked on events in hotels before, all I can say is “Why didn’t you book the whole space?”

    1. ..’cause there’s only about 46 people there…..they sure like to scream real loud.

  5. Watching from Australia.
I’ve been following American politics closely over the past few years.
    America is broken.

    1. What kinda figs have you been plucking? Did their loud squealing ever give you away and ruin your enjoyment of the sin of plucking figs? Hmmm?

    1. @James Marjan no one over 60 should be President in fact may be we need a phd program for people that desire to be a candidate plus mandatory 5 year in military. We can not tolerate idiots from either party

    2. @Daniel T. Maybe but Trump talked to the press every single day. But when I point this out, they don’t believe their lying eyes.

    1. @But this one goes to eleven! I wish they would at least move into 90s or 2000s that would be improvement

  6. You shouldn’t be able to run for office without the press having access. That’s not how it’s supposed to work.

    1. @scott hutchinson And might I add, your response….mixing religion with politics….as you might have been reading here, not such a good idea, ever.

    2. @scott hutchinson One last thing. Hummm I’m trying to understand “May Orange Jesus have mercy…” Are you saying you see Trump as God? Jesus?
And by writing what you did, who’s being not only sarcastic, but judgemental…. careful.

  7. Didn’t know that God was a voting scrutineer. The GOP have obviously been headhunting the best. I’d love to know what they’re paying God for his services?

    1. @Red headed Sojourner Right?? These people have severe mental illness if they believe that line of BS. Worshipping false idols.

    1. I wish Sagan was still alive during these times. I’d have loved to hear his opinions on all of it.

  9. Sad state of affairs in this country. The word “Patriot” has become a lie about xenophobic extremism.

    1. @Sceptkl 1
That is nonsense. Let’s take this to a smaller level that maybe you can grasp. If a man is raising a family, he can and should prioritize their welfare, and should have a special love for his home and family. That does not imply any animus or even unwillingness to associate with and if needed help others.

MLK was a great patriot. He fought and sacrificed because he loved what this country was meant to stand for at its best and was determined to try to move it in that direction without hatred or bigotry. What you are thinking of is jinogism – a false patriotism that focuses on symbols and catch phrases.

    1. @J L Oh, they didn’t SAY IT, but you don’t like what they reported…? Because of the reporting, not because of what the candidate said…

And he shouldn’t invite the press, because they might… report on what he says? Yup, last thing a candidate for public office would want is the public to know what he represents (or at least says he does).

    2. @Jeremy Owens basically what i said and its none of your concern fool or the publics what a government representative candidate from that certain state does , because if your from California for example why tf do u care what a representative from another state like Tennessee does your not able to vote for them u live in a whole other state so why do u care

    3. @J L I realize it’s hard for you to accept, but it’s not stereotyping when a journalist video tapes a rally where the political speaker is spewing his rascist bigoted view. It’s facts slapping you in the face and here you are in denial. smh.

  10. “Never listen to a politician who tells you how to pray, or a preacher who tells you how to vote”
I’d add – Especially when they’re one and the same *grifter* 🙄

    1. we dont know what happened to election. trump lost by over 7 million legal votes. 😭😭😭😭
