Maybe withdrawing people well in advance as well as securing the city of Kabul might have made it a bit smoother.
Most of the people did not want to leave until it was too late.

It’s easy to sit on the couch and give your advice.
If you tried withdrawing americans first many of them will not still want to go immediately because nobody thought he government will collapse like that. Then when it happened,america will have to go back in to get the people that didn’t leave.(I didn’t even mention the afghans that helped)
@Jessica T Against the wishes of our allies, but with massive support from the American people who want out of that war. Who does the president serve our allies, or Americans? If they weren’t prepared that’s on them they knew we were pulling out for over a year. And so did any US civilians in the country. Nobody knew the Afghan army would collapse immidiatley.
