(Congress passed the legislation to make the 3rd Monday in February Washington’s Birthday in 1968.)
Actually no Washington’s Birthday was February 22… but it was changed to Presidents Day … years ago… when we no longer took Lincoln’s birthday off at school…. one holiday for the Presidents✅
@Carol Cisko Hi Carol – Michael Beschloss is a presidential historian often featured on MSNBC, PBS, etc. He said Congress never created a President’s Day. They created five federal holidays on Mondays in 1968. Today, the 3rd Monday in February, is designated Washington’s Birthday. (He posted the official document in a tweet.) Personally, I remember the concept of the combined Washington/Lincoln holiday just like you but evidently we are wrong. That’s why I thought I’d re-post Mr. Beschloss’ tweet here. It seems President’s Day is yet another in a line of consumer driven holidays meant for selling cars, mattresses, etc. Thank you so much for your comment. Please take care.
@Nine Fools Wise We used to go skiing in the Poconos on President’s Day weekend (the Lincoln/Washington combined birthday holiday). Maybe it was just a “school district” thing.

The intelligent response would be to tighten up America’s lax laws against domestic terrorists and domestic fascists. While you’re at it, the Constitution is badly in need of updating.
