Let me tell you that I have read the WHOLE of the Jan 6th speech. He listed every single unfounded and ridiculous claim of election fraud in great detail and interspersed dozens of blatantly emotive phrases like the one above – over and over again. Here’s another: ‘for the sake of our CONSTITUTION…and our CHILDREN’ Aside from the one ‘peacefully’ phrase that was used as a way of pretending that he meant no harm – yeah…Really – the WHOLE of the speech was filled with the same lying, nationalistic, fearmongering rhetoric in which it was clear that he wanted them to ‘stop the steal’. I’ve also watched the montage of clips presented by the defence today. They were asking people to take action for a just cause (apart from the half-jokes by celebrities wanting to punch him, but NOT ASKING anybody to do it). There was even clarification by some which hadn’t been edited out, like ‘We’ll use every tool possible to fight for this change’. The context of THEIR words was clear (but not in the montage!) They WEREN’T being asked to stop a legitimate electoral process. Trump’s message was specific and clear and the whole 15 page transcript that I’ve read had ONE message, ONE purpose and ONE inevitable consequence. In a real court containing an impartial jury, there is no doubt that he would be convicted.
