You assume he would address the substantive point of your question. He would not, when he and Kellyanne Conjob and the others, want to avoid answering any substantive point of the question but want to appear to answer it, they pick out one word from the question, hammer that, and eventually turn the entire process back into a critique of the reporter, democrats, the deep state, etc.
Reporter: Mr. President, how do you square your previous statements regarding. . . ?
Trump: Square? I don’t have to square anything, listen, there’s no squaring here. . And if there were, it would be to square Joe Biden and what he and his crooked son did with that. . . So, no, I don’t have to square. The democrats are square, by the way, if you want the truth, with Sleepy Joe and Pocahontis. . .etc., etc.
The error is presuming there is any interest on their part in anything but spinning and subterfuge when questioned.
I don’t know, but I think it might be better to make statements, let them infer the question, and see how triggered they become.

Were you lying in Helsinki or in the Oval Office, and why did you lie at that time?

@Cocoa Liveson I seriously don’t know how we’ve let the tax thing go on this long. Anyone with an inkling of knowledge on tax law (and that should be plenty of politicians) should know that only the IRS can’t release a person’s tax returns while under audit. The individual in question can do so at-will with no ramifications.
