Roseau, Dominica – Tuesday, March 7, 2015 – Prime Minister of Dominica the Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit is in Jamaica where he and other Heads of government from the Caribbean Community, CARICOM will meet with President of the United States Barack Obama.
CARICOM Heads of government will meet with President Obama at the University of the West Indies, Regional Centre, Mona on Thursday, April 9, 2015.
The CARICOM – US meeting will focus three main issues competitiveness/trade; renewable energy and security. Prime Minister Skerrit will lead CARICOM’s response to President Obama’s initiative on renewable energy.
The CARICOM – US meeting will be co-chaired by Honourable Perry Christie, Prime Minister of The Bahamas and President Obama.
Minister for Housing, Lands and Water Resource Management Honourable Reginald Austrie is acting as Prime Minister while Prime Minister Skerrit is out of state.
PRIME MINISTER SKERRIT
Roosevelt Skerrit (born 8 June 1972) is a Dominican politician who has been the Prime Minister of Dominica since 2004, re-appointed in 2005, 2009, and 2014; he has also been the Member of Parliament for the Vieille Case constituency since 2000, re-elected in 2005, 2009, and 2014. Regionally, he has served as the Chairman of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and most recently as Chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in 2010. He is the Political Leader of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP).
