The theme for the General Debate of this the 64th Session of the General Assembly is: “Effective Responses to Global Crises: Multilateralism and Dialogue Among Civilisations for International Peace”.
Dominica’s delegation comprises the President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, H.E Dr. Nicholas Liverpool and Mrs. Liverpool, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Labour, Hon. Vince Henderson, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Commonwealth of Dominica to the United Nations, H.E Crispin Gregoire and the Consul General of the Commonwealth of Dominica in New York, Mrs. Barbara Dailey.
On Monday, the delegation participated in the Summit of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) which focused on climate change and the conclusion of the negotiations for a new climate change agreement in Copenhagen, Denmark in December.
On Tuesday, the delegation also participated in the one-day UN Summit on Climate Change.
During the period of the General Debate, there will be meetings of Foreign Ministers of the Caribbean Community (COFCOR), the Commonwealth and the Group of 77 and China.
Heads of Delegations of CARICOM States will meet US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.
