i think you’re right! Joker and 1917 were AMAZING. i think every movie that was nominated along with parasite was very much worthy of being chosen best picture.
My point of frustration though is how i’ve been seeing endless comments and videos of people who HAVEN’T seen parasite that are bashing its win. if you’ve seen all the movies like me, you’ll know that parasite was incredible. I personally think it was flawless- it’s script, the perfect mixture of genres with no clash, etcetc.
Honestly, if Parasite didn’t win, I would be okay with that too because at least it was nominated. But the thing is I’ve been seeing so many comments saying “why did a foreign film win? why didn’t 1917 win? joker talks about the societal problems with the rich and the poor” etcetc. It’s so ridiculous in my opinion. A foreign film can’t win? 1917 is a foreign film. If 1917 won, there would’ve been no outrage. Joker talks about the societal divide between the rich and the poor? These people are literally describing the Parasite plot.
All in all, I’m just frustrated with the reasons of the those who are mad that Parasite won.
