US President Joe Biden, the Vice President, and the First Lady Jill Biden speak with Philonous Floyd from the Oval Office. This comes after former Minneapolis Officer Derek Chauvin was convicted Tuesday of murder and manslaughter for pinning George Floyd to the pavement with his knee on the Black man’s neck in a case that touched off worldwide protests, violence and a furious reexamination of racism and policing in the U.S.
RELATED:
The jury has found former police officer Derek Chauvin guilty on all counts in the murder of George Floyd last May.
Chauvin, 45, was found guilty of second- and third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
The judge asked each juror if the verdict was correct, thanked them for "heavy duty jury service," and dismissed them. He revoked bail and told Chauvin to report back in eight weeks for sentencing. Chauvin was handcuffed and taken into custody.
The former officer, who is white, was seen on video pinning George Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, to the ground with his knee last Memorial Day for over nine minutes after police responded to a report that Floyd used a counterfeit $20 bill.
Cell phone video of the incident went viral and touched off months of protests in the U.S. and abroad condemning police brutality and calling for racial justice. The widely watched trial, which began in March with jury selection, was livestreamed – Minnesota's first criminal case to be televised.

Hahaha way to cut it off after she stumbled 😂😂😂 you aren’t fooling anyone!
trump supporters are so used to having a president constantly attacking American citizens that their two brain cells can’t comprehend what a sympathetic president is like.
Shut up and stop trying to throw shade.
@B D Yes, a president can be sympathetic. It’s part of human nature. You can’t wrap your mind over that because conservatives and evangelists feeds you nothing but hate and bile.
Hey….Biden is your president, haha
@Jonna King so was Trump for you lol doesn’t mean much.

@Nychelle Brewer I have. And people I was talking about are the Jury. The fact that they convicted him on the 3rd degree md charge speaks for itself. This charge was so outlandish that even prosecution dropped it originally and the judge reinstated it. The grounds for mistrial is that the jury members weren’t fully isolated and there was a huge crowd outside led by a congresswomen that was explicitly saying that if there won’t be 3 convictions they are going to destroy the city. And all the Jury members are the residents of this city.
@ChaldeanRU take a law class dip sh/t
@ChaldeanRU You find the third degree murder conviction “outlandish,” seriously? It might be irrational if they had acquitted him of the second degree charge, but there’s nothing outlandish there. Third degree murder in the state of Minnesota requires evidence that the defendant’s conduct exhibits “a depraved mind with reckless disregard for human life.”
I didn’t see any congresswomen threatening to lead anyone to destroy the city. In fact, politicians and activists in Minnesota were pretty careful not to incite (or even appear to incite) potential violence. Not sure where you’re from or where you’re getting your trial footage, but it’s easily available online unless your internet is being censored…? (I don’t mean to cause any trouble with that statement if that’s the case; at the same time, you probably wouldn’t be reading this if you lived in one of those countries.) Anyway, I would encourage you to take a look at the trial itself if you’re interested, along with articles explaining the charges and detailing the evidence.
He was a sacrificial lamb. Whether you agree with the outcome or not, cities are not on fire tonight. That’s all that matters.
@T Sprockett I hate to say that but the damage done to our society by this verdict is far greater than what we would get with riots (which still may follow).

@Aaron 🤣🤣😝
You READ Joe!
What if he appeals?
He can have orange peels!!
@Kathy Kaylor what is a long time to you? Know the laws of Minnesota. There’s a reason why second degree murder was added. He’s not doing any more than 10 to 12 years.
He’s going to appeal. I hope that all these idiot politicians and the mayor paying his family during jury selection doesn’t grant him a new trial. Biden speaks all this bullshit. What has he down for black communities?
@Elena Columbus Nada.
@Elena Columbus What has anyone done? Look at Chicago, they get a shooting almost everyday. Nobody cares, nothing changes.
2021 and they have to pass bills on these types of things?
It’s all just theatre 🎭
Joe looks like he didn’t want to be there
Well, it’s like speaking at a funeral, you know you have to speak, but you’re sad that a relative had to die.
He always looks like that. Puppets don’t change expression😏
He isn’t their, he’s in left field as usual.🤣
@Eric Dee I mean no offence but do you understand the difference between there, their and they’re?
@Peter Wilson not likely

My God since when does the top two political heads chime in!!
Trump weighed in on everything and everybody. So, ho hum, I love the smell of your tears. 🙂
Still think Nelson did a good job, because there was so much food for appeal.

Something tells me he’s going into prison a tight end and if he ever gets out he’s coming out a wide receiver.
Blue balls matter🔵
Hell be out in 10 years give or take a couple of years. Look at the sentencing laws in Minnesota. That is why he chose judge sentencing instead of jury. Each vount will not be stacked. He gets a lenient sentence for not have a prior record and Minnesota has monthly sentence credits for each month you have no issues and sentence serving is 2/3.
@Elena Columbus wow
so….. does the city still burn? or what?
