  1. This government failed to put a system in place to manage waste…this is a public health hazard and posed a risk to the health of Jamaican citizens..

    1. These calamities that are going on around the world is going to lead to a Sunday law which will be the MARK of The BEAST, Those that keep God’s seventh day sabbath will be persecuted and prohibited from buying and selling, Jesus is coming soon.

  2. Councilor I hope what you asking for goes for all politicians, including yourself, family members, and friends, don’t just push for ghetto to receive that punishment

  3. It’s about time someone hold them responsible, I hope this is not only talk.
Put it into action ,operations clean up Jamaica.

  4. Yes we agree to penalise these irresponsible state-holders in Jamaica, Let us keep Jamaica clean and tidy.

  5. They need to send the local staff to the US to study how to properly maintain a dump site. What he’s saying about allowing people to go on the site to rummage though it to “make a living” is nonsense. Nobody outside of the staff should be on that site.

    1. Fay, you are on point. Please read my post. They certainly need waste management guidance. Jamaica does lack effective EHS initiatives.

  6. I just don’t get this my family member build a 4 bedroom house with 2 bathroom and use 6 million so far no roofing as yet but how that cost 9 million?

So if that cost 9 million why is it that NHT grant is only 6.5 million and why isn’t there any housing solution 6.5 million or 7?

    1. How much did they pay for the land and Where is it located? Are you trying to say that we should base the average cost of a home on your experience alone? Check Google and see if you can find a new house in a nice community in jamaica for less than 9 mil.

  7. There are those who are just slackers! Have no regard for cleanliness!
People living in some communities are so nasty & worthless that they take garbage from their homes & dump them in neighbors properties and gateways especially when the properties are unoccupied at the time. There should be laws set to find these nasty people accountable!!

    1. They got no choice. That would happen in any country if people don’t have any where to put Thier rubbish…unless they burn them in Thier yards .so you can’t blame most people that much..If those people was nasty. they would have leave the rubbish in their house or yard.

  8. PEOPLE HAVE TO RAISE THEIR ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUSNESS ……..THIS TAKES EDUCATION AND A CHANGE OF BAD HABITS PASSED DOWN FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION………THIS” THROW IT WAY” MENTALITY…….MUST BECOME A THING OF THE PASS……

  9. I remember the days when future home owners usually sleep on the ground of the National . Stadium in order to get a form to apply for a house because poor people were not qualified.

  10. But when the late P. M. M. Manley saw it and the people cry, he first extended the Housing Trust then he started to build good, good homes for inner city residents.

  11. The government need come in with a proper recycling system to eliminate the bottle and cans and make Jamaica a clean place to work to live and raise children.

    1. I agree partially. We already know that recycling programs do not work. I would love to see the recyclables be turned into other products such as clothing, shoes, etc and exported to gain revenue.

    2. that is exactly what im referring to only that I didn’t detail it like that. If you earn something tangible for recycling there will be no more all over the place

  12. CHECK THE CLEANEST NATIONS AND EMULATE WHAT THEY DO…….CLEANINESS COMING LIKE A CIVIC DUTY……INDIVIDUALS TAKING THE INTIATIVE TO MAINTAIN CLEANINESS IN THEIR ENVIRONMENT………THEY DO THIS ON THEIR OWN……WITH THE REALIZATION THAT THIS IS A GOOD THING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT……

  13. I don’t understand how it only took 9 million to build a two bedroom house and 13 million for a sign 🤔🤔

    1. If you don’t understand do your research of the current market price for the material to build, the cost of the land and work force. You should find you answer after

  14. RECYCLING
There is a simple way to get people motivated to recycle plastics.
Create drop-off points in the communities for the collections.
Individuals would be given a loaded debit card (NO CASH) for the established value of their returns. They could then use these debit cards for their everyday purchases at supermarkets etc.
I am sure every man, woman and child would appreciate a little more pocket money, and create a healthier environment for all.
There is definitely too much plastic debris in backyards, gullies, and everywhere. WISYNCO is already in operation to transform this plastic raw material into building products – especially interior walls of buildings.

How about setting up a proper recycling system to separate tires, electronics and plastics from these landfills. Employment could be provided for people in the area who generally scavenge these dumps. The tires could be shredded for road-building material, or used to build reefs to protect the beaches. The health of the nation could be enhanced by not breathing in the toxic fumes/smoke from the illicit burning which is an environmental health hazard.
Recycling could also contribute to agriculture in the form of composting for organic fertilizer.

    1. …. As well as used to make clothes, shoes, rugs etc. So much is made from recycled products and revenue from this could be found in other trading partnerships.

I am quite sure Jamaica does not have the money to finance a fund to pay people for recycling however stranger things have happened.

  15. It is better to invest now.. never depend on a single source of income… You will never be younger than you are today and there will never be a perfect time to invest. The only reason we save money is to invest it 💰💰👛.

    1. My first investment with Mr. Ryan gave me the assurance that has made me invest without the fear of losing I got four of my friends involved with him already

    2. I have also been trading with him, the profits are well secured and over a 100% returns sent to my trading account. Made up to £68,000 (ROI) in just four months working with him

    3. @Sharon Mayleehm Reading these comments encourages me alot, I would love to communicate with him. Thanks for sharing this

    4. Don’t sleep on it…this is a time to invest, I trade with Expert Ryan Clarke and now I recently just bought another property valued at over $10m. I wish I knew the right investment firm to invest with earlier, better late than never thought.

  16. This councilor addressing the waste site/landfill issues almost got it right and must be commended for his initiatives. However, the site should be a secured engineered landfill, not a dump. No one should be allowed to go picking away at a landfill site. The government should not be involved in the business of waste disposal. Their responsibility is to ensure that the promulgation of the appropriate environmental laws and regulations are in place to educate, set compliance standards, enforce environmental laws and regulations. I have been saying this “forever”, now the PM is echoing the same sentiment. What Jamaica does not have, and is in desperate need of, is a functioning environmental protection system for the effective management of solid wastes. Jamaica needs a RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) authority similar to that of the United States. Waste should be separated between trash and recyclable. If the waste is comingled then, there should be waste treatment and disposal provisions in place to have the wastes separated into recyclable and nonrecyclable. The separated waste that can be recycled should then be used a resource (the R in RCRA) to generate electricity while the remaining is treated to minimized toxicity, while the balance is sent to an engineered landfill for disposal. Thus the result of the waste minimization process (less wastes ended up in the environment). The waste management part of RCRA should be contracted out to well vetted, reputable companies. This should be based on track records, experience, and auditable performance.

  17. I think they need to start building apartments or duplexes/triplex for multiple families instead on single dwelling

  18. WASTES HAVE VALUE IN JAMAICA 🇯🇲 LONG TIME. ESPECIALLY ALL THE WASTES THAT COMES FROM THE MANY FOOD MARKETS, SPECIAL COLLECTIONS SHOULD BE PUT IN PLACE. THESE COULD BE PROCESSED, AND JAMAICA COULD BECOME PRODUCER OF THE WORLD BEST FERTILIZERS. JUST SAYING, FROM SOME RESEARCHES THAT I MADE. 👀

  19. Sounds interesting, looking forward to seeing a cleaner Jamaica, I understand that we are looking for everything from the government, but we as the people need to maintain cleanliness,it’s our country, let’s us come together for the betterment of our country and people.

  20. One question Mr Prime Minister when will automated motor vehicle inspection systems set up in Jamaica like the rest of the develope world, Make the changes the county needs Sir
