Pipeline Hack Exposes Vulnerability Of Infrastructure To Cyberattacks

  1. Hackers are a necessary evil imo. Most of these sh!++y companies never update their systems and are running off 90s built software

    1. @Kellie Kay Don’t talk about cyber security if you wish to keep prior issues covered up. Simple!

    2. @Google User 😂😂😂😂😂 wtf am I personally trying to cover up?? The information is out there if yall were smart enough to find legit sources off and away from Facebook.

    3. @Google User I find it HILARIOUS that your name on here is “Google user” when you clearly can’t even use google.

  2. The pipeline runs about 100 yards from our house, right under a local park. We’re hoping they actually know how to “turn it back on” safely, since it seems unlikely they’ve ever had to do that much in the past. How many years have we heard warnings about infrastructure hacks like this, which we should be able to protect against by now?

    1. It was shut down for 10 days during hurricane Harvey . there are many pumping stations along the route and its not just one pipe,Its several different pipelines working to reroute when needed plus the administration is already taking steps to get gas and diesels to it original destination, Trucking restricting are temporary being lifted to allow more trucks to roll and tanker ships are being loaded and unloaded in ports along the coast line also trains tanker cars will be filled and headed towards destinations further inland. There may be a shortage but its temporary shortage due to panic buyers,

  3. Why don’t these companies care more? Do they just pay & pass the expense to their customers?

    1. Nope. They don’t pay anything, we taxpaying suckers do, every time which is why they don’t care. No matter what happens, they fill their pockets at our expense.

  4. Maybe your critical infrastructure and data should be in 24/7 quarantine. Separate access, hardware, network servers, and hubs with NO connection with the internet nor private laptops nor any internal network that communicates with the outside world.

  5. I recommend the book Sandworm by Andy Greenberg. But sure, let’s act like it wasn’t the people that decided to hook up critical infrastructure to the Internet that are to blame here …

  6. Hey scientists, if you all find another planet that can sustain life don’t leave me here please. There’s something seriously wrong with these humans here on this planet

    1. Definitely not. Those are the gold Standard. Sure a pipeline, the Dept of Defense, the White House Computer, Equifax, Stuxnet, Facebook, Target etc. But impossible to hack our elections 🙄

  7. They are running the pipeline in north Carolina manually. Why is sending guys into the field such an issue. Howd they get fluid pumping through pipes before a computer was hooked to everything. Get some actual people out there and open it all back up.
