President Biden’s infrastructure bill passing with possible bipartisan support is championed by Transportation Sec. Pete Buttigieg. Sec. Buttigieg tells Joy Reid, ‘I [haven't] given up on the idea that at least some Senate Republicans might decide to agree with the American people including a large majority of American Republicans… [who believe] we need to invest in the care economy of this country.’

Pete still is very intelligent.. Keep up.
Intelligence doesn’t equal wisdom
@Patrick R. so true. he is quite naive if he thinks any republicans will back anything.
No state needs this infrastructure bill more than the red states of the south.
@Louis Gunn The storage capacity I’m referring to is dealing with electricity to supply the country during periods of low supply as a result of increased intermittency combined with greater overall demand for electricity as we transition heating, transportation and industrial sectors to electric.
With greater intermittency in the grid this drives greater demand for storage capacity to be able to provide the supply.
So I’m not talking so much water supply from the dams, but when our hydroelectric dams store water they are also storing potential energy from the amount of water that can be released to provide the necessary energy in periods of significant demand.
@Brian like I said people like to have water around here. You know necessity of life and all.
@Brian you’ll be needing lithium for your battery. The battery gets old and you’ll need new one. Like your phone. So, you thinking electric excavators? You just going to buy lithium from China?
@Louis Gunn Again your demand for water has nothing to do with my comment
@Louis Gunn Batteries are not the only other source for storage capacity and lithium is not the only type of materials in batteries
Regardless these comments aren’t really addressing anything my comments regarding quantities for infrastructure that are needed across the country
Note to all Democrat lawmakers when dealing with Republicans and you say you have hope. Hope in one hand and💩 in the other and see which one fills up first.
Got that right…
Democrats need to do an end run around the GOP and talk with their constituents at town hall meetings. Find out what the locals want, need, and put forth those proposals. If you want to sear the meat, you’ll need a hot pan. 😉
Hope without action is not hope, faith without doing is not faith. There is no God in the rebulican party, their God is MONEY.
I doubt it. They’d rather block it and complain about both government spending and the state of the infrastructure.
Joe is doing his best, even though republicans dont want to help anyone or help to fix up the country… Why are we paying these republicans ???
Maybe because the south keeps voting for senators who work To fill their own pockets, and not their constituents pockets! They want their constituents to be poor and poorly educated! Very sad that they keep conning them, And still they keep voting for McConnell !
doing his best! Like I told the dems around here. Joke B. is too old and has never done nothing ever good in his 47 years as a politician. I guess you like higher gas prices, higher taxes, higher prices across the board(food, cleaning supplies, t.p.) *He was left a good running country.* The dems made this mess by de funding the police, supporting LGBTQ, blm, Klantifa, and opening up our borders. Now you worried about Joke B. fixing our country!!! ROFL!!! Wow!
@Barbara Bretti Nancy pelosi’s in California. That’s northern California.
@Colorado IsME trump ruined the country…
republicans will always negotiate and act in bad faith because this is an ongoing attempt at an autocratic takeover by the GOP.
I’ve lost all hope that Republicans give one care about the people and what they need and want.
………It’ll be their death, lol. They really think citizens won’t turn on them. Trump’s Covid response will be why too– many are going to be homeless. And when the depression comes in about 5 years, watch this country turn into a hellscape.
@Gabe Mendoza You’re not going to heaven demon.
They’re Lobbyists not civil servants in Congress. Bought and Paid for by “dark money” ( i.e. corporate, and other insidious non-tax paying, unpatriotic grifters driven by greed and self interest). The Fox is in the henhouse!
Friend, I concur…..
@AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL how white of you!
I see Mr. Secretary Buttigieg I want to know what he has got to say! I really appreciate listening to Pete speak!
On a famous tv show in 2019, Chris Christie commented that Trump was a bit fearful of Buttigieg as a potential rival in the 2020 election. Buttigieg’s eloquence and brilliance explain why Trump feared him.
Pete, always the diplomat and yet he still speaks the truth. I hope I live long enough to see him as President and Katie Porter as VP (or vice versa).
@Sheila Boston An absolute “Deadly Duo”
“Hope in reality is the worst of all evils because it prolongs the torments of man.” – Nietzsche
Hope too often avoids the tasks that need to be done today. It only piles up.
Living without hope is something you do not want to experience .
me
Here’s the deal, Pete: Republicans do not want Democrats to get credit for anything that works. Understand now?
Of course he understands. HE is part of the problem. Corporate Democrats are just diet Republicans. AOC 2024!!!
@Marlin Rodgers AOC won’t turn 35 until Nov., 2024. She can’t run for prez then.
I agree
Notice how quite the crowd became when he said that? And Pete, just don’t hold your breath on the bipartisanship, OK? We’re burning daylight and really don’t have the time.
That’s very true Lynette
Hope you are doing good Lynette?
It’s obvious the “America first” party
don’t think American’s are a good investment…
US ANTIQUE INFRASTRUCTURE: “The eyes of history are on this appointment.” – Buttigeig.
1964 Japan’s first bullet trains were put in service and the the first Beatles album was released.
1998 China started the construction of 36,000km of high speed railways and high speed trains.
2021 US still has NO high speed trains and NO safe overpasses or apartment blocks.
Forget this disingenuous bipartisanship: this is a Manchin and GOP ploy.
Democrats can’t seem to get it in their heads that Republicans don’t want them to get anything done. Geeze! The people don’t matter right now in the states. Not to the Republicans.
“I hope this ball will get edgier.”
“I didn’t give you this, but as a whole, we gave you this. Grim Reaper 2026.”
When the enemy is making a mistake, don’t interrupt them
IF there is actually “infrastructure” in the Dems’ “infrastructure bill”. America has had enough of this con job.
