@Joe Garver yep… like many laws and constitutional provisions, the electoral college has its roots in the civil war, ornate least the reconstruction.
We had to help the poor southern racists feel a part of, so the were given an outsized influence on our democracy.
We have flyover states whose entire populations are less than some coastal cities, and yet, they have the same number of senators, therefore more say, per capita states like California or new York.
Way past time to change that… If we have to amend the constitution of even add a few more states….

All the wealthy individuals are getting out of California and New York already and are going to put their money in tax exempt bonds if Biden is elected as current tax showed 60% or more of wealthy being taxed. No wealthy person is going to pay that and will hide their money in exempt bonds and hold out. Middle class is going to suffer and will have to pick up the tab on all these “free”stuff they want to provide. They are going full socialism with healthcare and radical green new deal with energy.
