Pence Not Inclined Toward 25th Amendment Despite Trump Turning Riotous Mob On Him | Rachel Maddow
It will become increasingly difficult for the republican party win presidential elections with the current and future democratic voting bloc (college-educated, black americans, asian americans, surburbanites, jewish, scientifics, etc). Furthermore, the republican base has become more and more working class whites, which means that there’s now a disparity between republican economic policies and what is actually favorable for their base. Unless there is a significant change in the republican party, the future looks very very uncertain.
any real human republicans should start a new party and nuke this one. its gangrenous.

@Bijan Mehrpour That is the problem then isn’t it….. what were once mainstream Republicans sold out their values through complicity, mealy mouthed semi-support and silence – just so they could gain the nutjobs votes to gain power. Now the loud and violent minority seem to be able to intimidate the majority of the party into subservience (sounds a lot like the NRA and gun control saga). Not sure which is the worse epitaph for Pence….. “traiter to the party”…. “traiter to truth, personal values and morals” or “traiter to the American people”. When Pence refused to do Donald’s bidding during the electoral college tabulation, he already got labelled traitor by the nutters… now he is trying to walk the middle ground. Good luck with that.

It has always seemed pretty surreal. Trump is a lot like the Joker except less diabolical, more clownish. But I think Dems started to lose the plotline. I don’t know if they could be held accountable in court, they always find a way to twist things, saying they meant no harm… or that it was only sarcasm / entertainment.
All in all, I’d say ” the less visibility they get, the better”… I definitely wouldn’t care if they were to lose the right to express their views on some platforms (Twitter, YT, FB,…).

I’m speculating that these “Christians” who have mixed politics with their “faith” are doing as such because in the Lord’s Prayer it says “on Earth as it is in Heaven.” They think that it’s their calling to make the US a Christian nation. The lines are so skewed that the Proud Boys most likely believe they have God’s stamp of approval.

@bearly traincot We were never meant to be a Christian nation. Period. My ancestors came here in the early 1700’s from one of those, was quite horrible if you weren’t their flavor of Christian. The era that many of my fellow evangelicals point to with pride for this country, is to me one of the lows. When we sent missionaries out to the word to bring them Christ. Idiots, He was there already, we bring nothing but the message and screwed that right up. Went into areas the Catholics or Orthodox and other had already evangelized and totally and I mean totally screwed it up. No wonder so many of those areas later went to Islam. Showed folks what petty folks we were with our competing Jesus and called into questions every one of his teachings with their actions. Now the same mindset has wrapped themselves around a particularly non-Christ like person, because they thought he would do their, not God’s, bidding and got us what? More division, more evil, not what Christ had in mind. I am beyond disgusted and angry right now.
@JamesAllmond well you know, we are outliving our history, lol. The Catholic Church was very powerful in Europe. Despite the fact that many a founding father was Episcopalian (the Church of England) they thought it was pretty important to decree a separation between Church and State. I am an Episcopalian myself and I couldn’t be happier with that resolve. I think churches should pay taxes since they tax their congregants. And somewhere in the Bible it says that God said he could raise up stones to worship him so I don’t think any of us should get too comfortable with the idea of taking over a nation, lol.
