  1. The reaction to that Peloton ad was ridiculous. Exercise isn’t just for overweight people. We live in the age of over reaction and denial.

    1. @hb8dinwa 😂😂😂 You are an exception and also part of the problem. This is a simple bike ad and nothing more. I did not see the part where it said “women weren’t perfect” like you pointlessly stated. I can also guarantee if the wife gave the husband instead you would change your standards accordingly. Which is fine because I doubt men need to be told they are perfect the way they are.

I’d get my wife a Peloton *especially* if she was overweight and take the heat. She can leave me if she finds it offensive. The possibility of her using it is better than accepting an otherwise likely future of HTN, PAD, heart disease, diabetes, stroke, osteoarthritis or a multitude of other debilitating and degenerative diseases linked to obesity and being overweight.

I commend you for taking care of your *own* self health wise. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this ad. If the wife was overweight then this ad would clearly be tone deaf to overweight and obese viewers only. Not targeting women as you automatically seemed to assume.

    2. @J H Stationary bikes are garbage for winter training. Cyclists don’t use them. They use interactive trainers with their actual bikes connected and run through something like Zwift, or if they want to keep it cheap they use a set of rollers, still with their actual bike. Nobody who is serious about cycling is getting a Peleton because there are already much better solutions that they can use with their own bike. Peleton is for people who like to go to spinning class but don’t want to leave the house to do it. It’s definitely not for cyclists. I didn’t bother to read the rest of your comment since the first part was so ignorant.

    3. @jc k likewise re: civil discussion. Very rare to have a conversation with someone who is adult about it on the internet, especially in YouTube comments. Yes, there were other issues. But the overnight selloff after the ad was the biggest, quickest sell off I can find in the ticker since the IPO. I really doubt they will be able to float in the long run. Most of the people who will be serious enough to keep the subscription going would rather use the money on a gym membership and get all the extra training options available at a full gym. I think they will really struggle to find a large enough niche of continuing subscribers. It will be the truly housebound folks like new parents and agoraphobics, or folks too self conscious to go to the gym, or a very few people so serious they want to be able to go to the gym and keep riding at home… the only other market they have is the impulse folks who will buy the bike and never use it (which, TBH, has always been the key demographic for stationary bike home sales anyway). I suppose they find a way to sell enough to gyms so people can get the spinning class experience even when there’s no class in session. To me it just doesn’t sound like a 9.5B cap company’s ideal market size and there’s no real room for growth after they saturate that.

    4. @Boris Müller just because you are skinny doesn’t mean you should stop exercising. Exercise is good for maintaining cardiovascular health. Heart disease is the number one killer in america.

    5. @J H LMAO. I just read the rest of your comment. My wife was 12 years in the military (where we met) and served overseas. You couldn’t be much further from the mark there. Sorry, what assumptions? About the ad? It’s a 30 second spot – you HAVE to make assumptions to derive anything from it. That’s the art of TV ads. You MAKE the audience draw conclusions. You’re SUPPOSED to make the audience draw the conclusion that it’s a good product they want to buy. You’re SUPPOSED to make MOST PEOPLE draw that conclusion. Here’s what’s not an assumption: based on the reaction from the public and the investors, Peloton screwed the pooch with that ad. At best, 50% hate them for it, and the other 50% don’t care about the bike so much as they care about jumping on social media to insult those of us who thought it was tone deaf. The real question I have is why do you enjoy insulting people on social media? Are you outraged by my comments? You seem far angrier about me than I am about Peleton. I mean, insulting my wife because I didn’t like a Peleton ad? Are you really proud of yourself? Really?

    1. Y’all know some people like riding stationary bikes in the comfort of their own homes
      What’s so wrong about that?

  2. You completely missed the point it’s playing at the fact that she was roasted because of the peloton commercial and that’s why her friend said you’re safe here so it’s playing on the fact that she no longer has to worry about reading Memes of her on Facebook and Twitter it’s just funny

    1. The peleton lady loses her wedding ring in the aviation gin ad, so obviously it’s kind of like an extended universe jab where she is going through a divorce hence the other actress saying “you’re safe here”.

    1. I can’t fucking stand Twitter, Instagram & Facebook! YouTube is the only “Social Media” I can tolerate because I can watch videos without ever having to interact with annoying know-it-all assholes jerks(especially the kind that consider YouTube social Media)

    1. @hb8dinwa …..your passive-aggressiveness is cute. The ad is not an issue. You are only overly-concerned with female-centric issues, for whatever reason. This is outrage-culture. It is just a daft ad for a product – what you are perceiving is something you are actively projecting onto it. But whatever, I don’t care. Neither does my wife – she thinks it is also a joke. I guess you could argue with her, but she doesn’t really care either. Be mad. But you should probably instead just look for the best in people and not assume they are out to fat-shame. Maybe he loves her and just wants her to be happy and healthy. Just bizarre, anyway.

    2. @hb8dinwa I note you have no concern about the alcohol ad encouraging women to binge drink in groups with other females in an effort to deal with emotions. Strange. It is almost like you are unbalanced and biased somehow.

    3. @Eco Geek I think you need to look up what passive aggressive means. By outrage culture, you also mean people jumping on a YouTube thread to insult and yell at people for having an opinion, right? You’re just as bad as anybody who doesn’t like this ad. Welcome to the outrage, hypocrite.

    4. @hb8dinwa
I Don’t think EcoGeek is the only one in this comment section telling you that you’re wrong. Scroll up and take notice to the others.
There’s really no need to over analyze this exercise equipment for what it is. You’re probably one of those people who were making a stink of Chapells latest comedy show? Weren’t you?

    1. World Citizen Her husband should punch her teeth out so they can actually have something to be upset about.

    2. That’s the point. It’s not adequately shown whether she wanted it to begin with, or if the husband dropped a not-so-subtle hint that she needs to be fitter. The former is actually a great gift idea because cycling classes are always crazy booked and if she previously conveyed this to him, this is the best bike out there. The latter…. not so much.

  3. I’m with the dude, “I don’t get what one thing has with the other.” Also why the hell can’t I book two national commercials.

  4. “Basically she can enjoy her life, and not get gifted a peloton bike.”

I would be head over heels if someone gifted me a $2000 bike! What the hell is wrong with people.

    1. Sadly I suffer from Little Donny Disease (magnimus- obliviophallocytis) and can never enjoy riding naked on a bike.

    2. At first I thought the Little Donny was sarcasm regarding Trump until I saw what urban “dic-tionary” described it as 🍆

    3. Wes Savage
Yes you get a $2000 bike then need $39 a month to be hooked up, until then you look at a blank screen.
      just another con.

  5. Sounds like the Male anchor already ordered a peloton bike for his wife(or husband) and doesnt want to admit is a bad gift 😂😂😂

  6. People just love to be offended. Everyone wants to be a victim. It was a gift she seemed to enjoy it so who cares?

  7. “I feel a commercial actress took two jobs.” I wish I could think like that without all the interior monologue.

  8. No one’s talking about the scary part: thinking its normal to ride a bike in a house while “connecting” w others…is sad… and really sad.
