Moscow Mitch has refused to pass any stimulus, he has said states should claim bankruptcy, _does he honestly think this won’t “defund the police”?_
Hello! and thank you for bringing this topic up. I had to go read up on this states bankruptcy idea of mitch’s.
And I learned, that since there is not a law in place that allows states to file for bankruptcy, (certainly mitch knows this), and to even attempt to make it into law would take many months at the least and, it is doubtful it would pass for the reason you stated, and many other reasons.
It would probably have a direct impact on the states that did go bankrupt, in their state employees retirement programs which would be greatly reduced, and state income taxes would increase etc:
I am sure mitch knows these things, and it is just his way of not taking responsibility-he went on “pause,” somewhere back in early summer on this issue, and I doubt that mitch or trump will budge.
And the why in my opinion, is because mitch and trump have greatly overspent over the past 4 years, like for trump’s “beautiful” wall, once built will be the most expensive wall ever built in the world, and the haphazard manner in which he has managed the Covid-19 crisis etc: So, in order boost the economy, trump decided to do away with Social Security, Medicare and the other programs, and from what I have read, this has been work in progress on the repub side for several months-even while trump says he will not do away with it- it’s a tangled web they weave, when they practice to deceive. (paraphrased; Sir Walter Scott-‘Oh what a tangled web we weave/When first we practice to deceive”).

Republicans take “campaign donations” (bribes) from massive corporations and the super wealthy to purposefully destroy the middle class (and therein sending that wealth upwards). Corporate Democrats are given “campaign donations” (bribes) from massive corporations and the super wealthy to stand aside and let it happen.
Meanwhile, average citizens are getting sick, some dying, and/or losing their jobs or businesses, as sacrifices to the stupid stock market.
A lot of people are going to have a crappy holiday season. I hope they remember this during the next election.

The majority of America live from paycheck to paycheck most Americans have more than one job and still don’t make enough to have health insurance yet the elected officials have health insurance and a steady paycheck no matter what the condition of the country, somehow their paycheck should reflect the condition of their constituency.
