Voters in Wisconsin lined up at polling places on Tuesday, forced to choose between staying home to avoid coronavirus or risking their health by casting their ballot. The state’s Democratic governor had tried to delay the election until June, but his order was overturned by the conservative Wisconsin Supreme Court. Voters who had applied for absentee ballots but didn’t receive them by Tuesday had to go to the polls. In a 5-4 party line decision, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a lower court ruling that would have extended the deadline for absentee voting. Aired on 4/7/2020.

This is wrong on so many levels. This pandemic has been handled very poorly from the beginning. 🙄

@Kat J Other corona viruses exist so I wouldn’t say it’s not plausible. I’m certain they are named after the symptoms and this one shares symptoms with flu and cold. If we don’t trust China perhaps someone should have at least investigated the whistle blowers from China that revealed this thing in December.

The US health system was less prepared for a pandemic than those of other wealthy nations. A high uninsured rate, high out-of-pocket health care costs, and low medical system capacity combined to make the country more vulnerable to a pathogen before the coronavirus ever came to our shores. America’s lax response in the early days of the outbreak only compounded those problems.

He should be arrested. Use of full PPE for for an event not neeed to be taken while the United States under a National Emergency. His state is in a “stay at home order,” and here he is participating in an event, gathering a large group of more then 10 people.
PPE needs to be reserved for medical personnel, there’s a world shortage, why does he think he can waste it on himself, regardless if he paid the PPE himself or not

We know that the Clinton Administration would have been fully staffed with competent professionals including Republicans.
If Clinton had been elected, tens of thousands of American citizens would be alive today who are instead dead due to Trump’s actions, incompetence, failure to adequately staff, and intentional refusal to take the responsibility that job entails. Since you don’t live in the USA, you probably didn’t know that up until 4 days before the election, the governor (A Dem) was full steam ahead for in-person voting. Once his team stated looking at the absentee numbers he did a 180 turn to try and stop the in-person voting. The courts then followed constitutional law relative to election laws.

I am center-left, but I have to agree with the Supreme Court ruling. The governor doesn’t have the power to alter election dates by decree, nor does a district judge have to power to alter mail in ballot rules. Gov. Evers was correct when he said only the legislature has that authority. The problem here was fairly reprehensible political gaming by the GOP member’s of the state senate who refused adjust the election in any way in hopes of suppressing the vote in Madison and Milwaukee where the virus has been most disruptive.
