The state rested its case against Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooter Nikolas Cruz. Jurors visited the Florida school building where the mass shooting occurred to decide if Cruz should get the death penalty. The crime scene was left untouched since 2018. it’s so damn sad, I cannot imagine the pain these families and the community have been through and will have to live with tge rest of their lives. they deserve more than thoughts and prayers, but I pray for them anyway.

As a person who lost a beloved one at the Port Arthur massacre, my heart breaks for these families. 💔💔
We Aussies made even stricter our gun laws immediately after that horrendous day…

@Mark Dowse Be snide if you like, but you can’t deny the truth of it.
@Steve Stoll USA was also a penal colony…. strangely…. more slaves in USA than the British “colonies” combined….
@Arch3r666 different is we revolted and took our freedom.
This is heartbreaking to watch. Such innocent little children killed. It’s so hard to imagine that some heartless person could actually do this. God bless these families.
@Rachel Kristine so youre anti life? like voldemort

Evil exists.
@Buster of Covid Deniers it’s true
All of the victim impact statements have been absolutely heartbreaking but Corey’s (Mr hixons son) completely broke me. I don’t think I’ve cried as hard as I did watching this live since the day I lost my father 💔

This is so heartbreaking to hear- I cannot imagine living through this💔 Can you imagine the impact that would have walking through that scene? If there was a way be it in-person or virtual to present cases to a jury this way that could be life-changing for victims & survivors & families too. Wow 💔🙏❤️
Juries should always have to go to the crime scene. I’m glad to hear they did. HOW did the Gov’t and Social Media companies not pick up on the murderers posts???? How were they not reported to authorities or were the reported and they did nothing?? This needs to be a MASSIVE lawsuit against Facebook, etc.
@Christophe I’m weird for recognizing that humans are drawn to extreme things, and that those searches in your previous comment usually doesn’t mean anything? If anything, you’re weird for not having noticed that humans enjoy darker things! Have you not noticed that a very good portion of our entertainment involved murder and mayhem? Do you really think our browsing histories are any different? Of course people search for serial killers, mass shooters etc! And yes, some of those people will want to try to understand what makes them tick. That can be a possible explanation for the searches in your previous comment.
Come on, brother Chris. You know this already.
@Christopher McDade it’s not trying to understand when you do those kind of research everyday for months and explicitly says you want to kill people and make a massacre! If you can’t admit that yes you’re weird and you also need a therapy like him..
@Christophe The only questionable thing you mentioned there, is saying you want to kill people and cause a massacre. That is very different from reading about mass shooting. Brother Chris, you know there is a difference. I don’t know why you are acting this way. I don’t know you, brother Chris, but I would be very surprised if you genuinely thought that you lack moral compass if your search history is anything other than flowers and love, or that you consume any sort of entertainment that isn’t going to be aired on the Disney channel. Most people enjoy the macabre, but there is a difference between reading and watching, and saying you want to murder. That is NOT what you said at first. You only mentioned examples about searching for information about school shooters, which is probably less uncommon than you think. (Heck, even THINKING about murder is probably less uncommon than you think. However, even though a lot of people have had a thought like that, almost none of them become more than a thought.)
@Christopher McDade you probably didn’t watch the video where they showed every YouTube and google research he did, so I don’t think it’s worth talking to you, I know lots of people love crime documentary and tv show, I do too but there is a difference that you probably don’t see, and that’s the problem here
You know you’re toast if you’re lawyer starts to cry before what you did
He knows he’s going to spend the rest of his life in prison. All he can hope for is a life sentence and a fair trial, which is why his lawyers are there.
His lawyers know who’s they are defending. Just take a look at what he was searching for on internet. Good song to play while killing people 😳 that is a definition of devil 👿 in a human flesh. 🤦🏽🤦🏽🤦🏽
@EoE31 now let’s see your internet history

That’s why you need the right to bear arms to defend your home or ccw against people like this
That was heartbreaking watching that young man tell the court that he missed his dad.
@Saul Teanuts I know everybody say it true but my gut still think something not right especially when robbie Parker got into character before he made that speech were he’s laughing and kidding around with the other parents then he turn cold and sad right infornt of the camera.
@Mark Cortez you are sick then. Seek help.
Well at least we know that attorney has a heart
Most defense attorneys do. That’s how they manage to represent people who others see as inhuman. It’s often a very thankless job but we would not want a system where the accused is not entitled to counsel.
I think they are public defence attorneys. Unfortunately they have to defend him or he can claim his right to a fair trial was violated

Couldn’t get 30 seconds in before tearing up. I don’t know which to be more reactive to, his level of stupidity or lack of sympathy
These families have found themselves in a group that none of them every wanted to be in nor anyone wants to be in. They will forever be connected by their loss. 🙏🏼🪔
When your own attorney cries for the victims you know you’re screwed. This is the kind of person the death penalty was made for.
@Roland Drummer Rudy Pro life are ya 🤔
@Roland Drummer Rudy More like world values. Gas and food prices are up EVERYWHERE.
@K-Ent ok so 1) don’t call yourself pro-life then, call yourself pro-babies, and 2) taking a life, when prison (which also doesn’t work as a deterrent btw) or actually efficient options like prevention, socio-economic policy implementing and therapeutic treatments exist IS playing god. It’s what this shooter did.
And even if I can’t pretend to know his state of mind, I’m sure he found a way to feel justified in taking those lives. As a society, we don’t have that luxury because at the end of the day, the moment we decide that it’s up to us to take a life and that we would be justified to do so, we loose any real moral ground to judge a murderer.
Plus “enough is enough” is a little weak of an argument to found you’re entire justice system on (or any criminal policy) if your goal is to preserve individuals’ freedom and safety.
@••• 1) taking pro-life in that literal sense would mean you’d have to let anti-maskers go around without the masks since being pro-choice means being able to do whatever you want with your body, bad name choice but also bad argument.
2) there’s also a social problem where people are not properly taken care of, specially in this kid’s case where he was left alone pretty quickly due to his parents’ death, he had no one to check on him and start treatment. All those things you mentioned are great for providing a better life and prevention for nutjobs, specially in nowaday’s world where stress is the norm. However keep in mind that there’s a point where people can still be controlled, and the older they get the harder these things are to treat, this kid grew up with hate accumulating inside him, he enjoys inflicting pain on others, he’s even aware of everything by playing the insane card. Kid’s a danger and tbh it’s almost impossible to correct his behavior at this point. If he’s not given death penalty then he should be given life in prison, there’s people out there who can still be corrected, he already lives in hate.
He dealt out all those death sentences 4 years ago. He deserves to experience it. 👏
An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
This is just gut-wrenching, Ooh my God.
Some people just shouldn’t have the privilege, of walking among us. That monster is one of them. My heart hurts for the moms and dads. What an unforgivable act of evil. My deepest condolences to the families of the victims. May they RIP 🕊
He had a hard life
Totally agree with you
I said the same thing why is there a trial for someone who took dozens of lives children babies like why r u making them relive what happened death should not be in question
Sometimes it seems that the term “mentally ill” is just an excuse to avoid admitting that some individuals are just simply evil.
Man I agree. But technically it truly is some sort of mental illness when you have impulses you can’t control. Including killing and harming ppl. But still I agree completely, mental illness shouldn’t even be mentioned in cases like this.
I have to agree
The traits that make someone seem “evil” to you can be explained by specific mental/personality disorders and the effect of those conditions on the accused should not be ignored.
@King Ayy Exactly. His own mental conditions should be considered before sentencing. It’s about justice, not revenge and he should not endure more than what he needs
Because people refuse to accept that being violent is part of being human.
This is heartbreaking! RIP to the victims. I can’t imagine what they’re going through. I’ve been watching this from the beginning. One thing I have noted though is that I really haven’t seen a single tear. I wonder if psychologists have studied this phenomenon. It may have to do with a case being high profile, the length of time between the tragedy and the trial, the weight of public expectations, etc. I just don’t think I could personally get up there and not be a huge ball of tears and snot. But, I never hope to find out.

“He deserves what he’s gonna get” say it teacher say it
I feel so bad for the jurors. It must be so traumatic to have to do this job. It will stay with them forever. Maybe every single day of their lives.
This is a case I’m having a hard time watching. It’s gut wrenching. As a person who doesn’t know any of these people and for this to being so much pain…it makes it unfathomable how much pain they are all dealing with. My heart bleeds for them and at the same time I’m so angry that people are so married to their obsession of owning as many big huge high capacity guns as they can because it’s fun or “it’s my constitutional right”. Makes me sick
I can’t watch these stories without crying and my heart breaking for these families and teachers. My heart goes out to this whole community. IMO he should get the DP.
