That’s really fking sad. My mind automatically went to saving my bf and teacher in that situation. I couldn’t imagine what that would be like and how scary that would be. We need to do better America. Stop dragging kids into it.
So sad!!!! Thank God he didn’t open the door!!!!
It was a officer though but he was right for waiting it’s better to wait and make sure ..
@Beastbombshell I gotta say- how absolutely stupid on the Officers part. That is not how you calm a class full of people in a school shooting.
@Stormeth I completely agree. Now is not the time for your “ rude cop” tone. “Then open the door and look at my badge bro”?? Seriously?? That just made me so mad. Have some empathy for what they just went through!
@Cola Pea exactly! That officer needs basic training. He can slide his badge under the door, or grab keys from the school’s office. A police should never bang on your door.
This video is intense. Thank goodness there was not a dumb kid running to the door to open it thinking it was the real sheriff department. This video will be used in trial so show the shooter’s intent to kill more students. The family of the shooter needs to be held accountable.
It was a plain clothes detective
@showtimejesse link for source on this information? Why would the cop say open the door to see my badge (actually enticing them to open the door so they are then vulnerable?) A cop would not say that in such a situation.
Just to clear misinformation: the police confirmed that the suspect Ethan did NOT pretend to be the sheriff. This is literally a bad policing. My opinion: That police needs more training.

What did the family do wrong from what I’ve seen this loser is the only one to blame
@O R I O N confirmed. it was the sheriffs department. A lot of wrong people in these comments
VERY SMART teacher and students. I hate this. Students should never have to fear going to school to learn.
@Hellspawnxxx I’m very certain that lots of people from your generation that were bullied and mistreated ended up committing suicide, dying from an overdose, drinking themselves to death or the most common one. Having kids and taking it out on them. Youth today have a better understanding of the world and themselves then any generation before.
@J.Rivera What a shitty take. I was bullied constantly at school and at home. I was Physically and verbally bullied at school, and at home. I never even had an inkling of a thought of killing my class mats, or anyone. I have plenty of mental illnesses to boot as well.
No one should go to school and wonder if today is the day it gets shot up. I graduated in ’09 and never ever had at to worry about that.

Hey Ethan Crumbley, you missed these ones right here in this video.
The students made some quick and sound decisions . They kept their cool, helped each other and survived. Their parents and their community should be proud of them.
That voice does not match the suspects face
their cool? you weird

@gamopetalous everyone should be ashamed of that school for not picking up on this situation as the student was clearly planning it
That young man who was speaking is a HERO and needs to be acknowledged for his quick thinking. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
you have no idea what a hero is
@. you know what? From one Prince fan to another you are a disgrace. If Prince were alive today and saw this video he would have acknowledged this teacher as a hero. Not to mention he would have corrected your comment. Please do all us Prince fam a favor and remove his symbol as your profile pic. I wish you heaven.
@Singlish Physics I’m not a spring chicken therefore I sometimes see 40 and below as young ones 😌 lol

@Rebecca Guo thank you so much for clarifying this. 😌😌
It’s too risky to go up to the door to even answer the “sheriff”, letting him know there r ppl inside. I would’ve told everyone to stay put for as long as possible till for sure when u hear multiple cops r in the hallway
Or until they have the keys to get into the classroom cause cops should have the keys from administration
@Jason Peralta yea in my school our drill is dont trust the announcements or someone speaking at the door until security unlocks the door
LE will either use a key or make a way inside. Don’t unlock the door for ANYONE
Wouldn’t wait. He could have shot the door lock off or even worse he could have went around to the window they all barrelled out of.
This is too much!! I just can’t imagine my baby having to go through this smh
Same
Good Job Kids !!! Smart, don’t even trust the Sheriff office in that situation. Even the boogyman can say he’s the Sheriff. Your parents should be proud. And way to stick together and take care of each other and make decisions together. You get an A+ today in the class of “Fuct up world we live in 101”
We as a society need to do better raising our young men.
And women
My baby’s had to go through this twice this year. 14 years old, and handles these situations like a seasoned vet. Kids should not have to deal with this.
@slide4180 ur comparing a school to a battlefield
@slide4180 it’s not the guns that are the problem it’s bad people. Put a handgun on a table and leave it alone and it won’t hurt a single person. Let some crazy person pick the gun up then people will get hurt
@floridanica I agree, why the hell do you people respond to these sad comments when you have nothing good to say
This is heartbreaking. No kid should ever go through this
This happened an hour away from me… R.I.P to those 4 innocent teens
If any kids are reading this, and ever find themselves in a terrifying situation like this, REAL cops will have keys to your door or have to slide a badge underneath the door to prove they are who they say. NEVER just take their word.
And I 100% agree! I once asked an officer how do I know if someone knocking on my door is the police? He said police will never bang your door. This sheriff seriously need to retake his “how to be a police 101” class

Hey Ethan Crumbley, you missed these ones right here in this video.
My heart goes out to the entire school and the families affected. Prayers. Thank God the teacher and those kids remained calm and wise during this monstrous act! Truly, sticking together.
Oh my God! Poor children! I got chills looking at this video! The teacher did right by protecting the kids that way!
The teacher should be commended on not opening the door. True HERO
And I 100% agree. I would not open the door at all. I once called a police on some threats I got. I asked the officer how would I know if someone is pretending to be the police at my door. He said two things, “1. Police will always show you a badge to prove themselves, and 2. Police will never bang on your door. If someone starts to bang your door, get your weapon ready and shoot once they force in”
These kids did everything right. I remember 10 years ago being told “Even if the principal comes to the door and says its fine DO NOT LET HIM IN, because someone could be holding a gun to him”. Im thankful our school and seemingly this one had such a good plan in place.
Clever bunch of kids. That could have deceived anyone especially in that situation. Well done to them and the {teacher?} and RIP the victims.
This is truly sad time when we have to watch this unfold from a student’s point of view.
I am glad these children made it out and this was not the last time they had a chance to share a part of their lives with their loved ones.
This is proof that we need to put more into our mental health system as well as gun reform.
When I see something like this my first quest3 is how do these children get access to weapons of this magnitude.
Although we are happy that the casualty count was not higher there should not be a causality count at all by a school aged child.
I’ve watched so many true crime stories of children killing people.
I saw one that defined the names of all the differemt type of killings that people commit towards family members.
I am so sad that there are so many different names for it.
There needs to be an up tick in mental heal3 professionals in our schools trained to identify children who have an escalation in aggressive behaviors.
I was fortunate to have a counselor in my school that went above and beyond her duties as well as teacher and a neighborhood mentors who saw my gifts as well as my issues growing up in an abusive home and a drug riddled neighborhood.
They saw my gifts as a writer and dancer.
I loved them with all my heart and I miss them dearly.
They are part of the reason why I got into working with at-risk youth in Inner- City neighborhoods in Washington, DC
