  1. A very tragic chapter in Canada’s history. We need to acknowledge, heal and reconcile with the Indigenous peoples of Canada.

    1. No. I will not “acknowledge” the lie that Residential Schools were at all bad. Therefore there’s nothing to “reconcile”.

  2. These are true Canadians who have been abused in the worst way! For this I am embarrassed and ashamed of my country

  3. Why would all these teachers sign up to teach in residential schools with the purpose of torturing children?

    1. @Donnie Thomas Nothing that took place in these boarding schools differed at all from boarding schools across the Empire.

Corporal punishment was common and I won’t apologize for that. No contemporary accounts denounced Residential Schools and Indians themselves fought a half century ago to keep them

    2. @Donnie Thomas Maybe they should have been part of the hearings. Maybe they should have been asked to testify. It is a missing part of this.

    1. How is this any different than a rememberance day ceremony? We teach children about all sorts of things and involve them in related activities.

  4. this is such a disgrace….to allow the perpetrators remain untouched by legal requirements, while at the same time forcing all to conform to the new norm even though so so many had nothing to do with this. human civilization at its best i tell you; 2020 style still. the populace always seems to pay the price and have to deal with repercussions due to the criminal afflictions of them government affiliates.
