Glad he survived. Hope he recovers well.
In general I’ve noticed kids just walk sometimes with phones expecting or assuming cars will stop. Yes, there is right and wrong, but I grew up understanding not getting hit by a car is also important.
Even adults just walk out across the road, oblivious to their surroundings.
Kitchener LRT rides right up against the curb. It would only take one ice patch (or a jerk friend getting rowdy) to have you out under it.
@20xitysix No, it wouldn’t, because I don’t approach moving trains. It might have you under it through ignorance, though.
This is horrific. To all you kids out there. You are the future. You must be more careful. It’s a dangerous world so keep your eyes and ears open.
Stay off your phone when you’re walking
I don’t want someone who walks onto train tracks to be my future.
He’s lucky. There was a lady that was torn into sludge by falling between subway cars. They only found after a few stops…
We are glad he is alive. It was a scary scene and hope he recovers. The parents have gone through a horrible scare.
A McMaster student crossed the street and died by getting hit by a snowplow and then they reduced the speed limit… Roads are dangerous, open your eyes
I’m glad the kid’s fine, but… How do you accidentally get hit by a train? They’re loud, can only travel on a single, largely marked path, and can be seen from kilometers away
Smartphones, headphones.
Air podes most likely
The LRT is not loud, it is extremely silent. Kids wandering around wearing ear buds cannot hear a thing.
@K DANIEL You say that like its something they can’t help.
LRT is a quiet compared to diesel fuelled trains.
Kids need to pay more attention to what they are doing rather than on their cell phones while walking
Thanks for the great advice.
I’d really like to know how this could even happen
I would never put my self in this family’s place. I can’t even imagine the heartache they are going through. How does a person get hit by a train. I hope I don’t see a law suit comming, but it would surprise me If that didn’t happen. The railway didn’t expect him on these tracks, and they didn’t put him there.
How is it the railway’s fault?
My advice to other kids: Open your eyes, pluck those ear pods outta your ears so you can hear what’s going on around you, and yeah, look before you cross. I mean I can’t step on the tracks without looking and expecting the train to be able to stop on a dime to not hit me, specially and LRT which is usually operating without a driver.
Not sure how this happened, but I will say I’ve been noticing lots of teens playing ‘chicken’ with the LRT as it pulls up to stations…
That’s terrifying. Hopefully, his recovery goes well. Cameron Heights School might consider a class in common sense or perhaps “How not to get hit by a train.” Seriously.
My condolences to the TTC driver…. let’s think about their mental state as well…we always think about the obvious…. imagine someone stepping in front of your car….sure, not your fault but try and get over that!!
💜
Jesus has mercy of him keep this family in your heart keep him safe lifts him from the bed heal him please lord
Kids stopped looking both ways Before they cross instead they’re looking down on their phones like idiots
Dear mom and dad, I am praying for your son to continue to heal well and recover. Prayers from Alberta 🙏❤️
🥺💔
Would be nice to know whether there’s any possible risk/danger to others, all have to understand train time is anytime. Most just don’t understand how unsafe train tracks are.
I am so sorry for this sweet guy and his family. Praying for you all!
