    1. You do realize that just because they are banning it does not mean employees have it on their devices. And you have to sign documents to get government issued devices that im pretty sure stipulates not to download or use them for things that are not work related.

    1. @Snaile sorry but you have very little understanding of the government and laws here in Canada. They have absolute powers. Do your homework kids!

    2. @Snaile they indeed have the authority to control whats on people’s phones. If canada can ban gas powered cars, Huawei from 5g network, weapons, they can surely ban applications lmao.

  1. I dont understand. When I worked for the Federal Govt our work computers and phones only were allowed approved programs. No personal data, Tic Toc ,Facebook or other public sites for security reasons. The fact that this policy has not been followed by all private companies and governments is really strange to me. You want personal sites or data that should be on your own phone

    1. Any decent company will install device managment software that splits your phone into 2 profiles (Work/Personal). A protected section for work and a personal section everyday use.

    2. I had a work phone and computer. All I used the work equipment for was work. Any personal stuff was done on my personal phone and computer.

    3. When government expects you to be available on your personal time via your issued phone, they give you perks like using it for personal things

  2. you mean that personal apps are allowed on employee-issued phones at the government? Lol what kind of control policy is this

  3. Imagine thinking six years in they don’t have everything they need? I don’t understand how it’s a flex for the Canadian gvt. To claim a ban is a rebuttal? I’m not a hater I’m just curious.

  4. Why does there need to be a rule for this? Are they allowed to view pornography on their work phones too or is there a specific rule for this too.
