How about you cut our taxes so that we can choose how we want to spend our $$. $1 per ride just like the $10 per day of child care only helps a specific demo.

@Todd Pick everyone pays for subsidized costs. It’s taxes, they don’t need to justify exactly who it’s being taken from. It’s myopic to demand the government tell you exactly who is being taxed, almost everyone is, just depends on their income.

Toronto Transit Pass for 2 years nearly bled me dry…and the subway didn’t even run 24/7!
I thought Ford’s buck a beer promise a few years back was a little silly but this takes it to another level. I have a feeling they really didn’t think out the implementation of this too well.
I agree with you on this. Many folks that really want to work from home will try to keep working from home. He thinks that the Federal public servants will to back to the office? Honestly, he probably doesn’t take the bus himself. Why waste 2 or more hours a day packed in a bus? And isn’t the city of Ottawa takes 16% of their taxes to pay for their public transport. More than they use for cops or firemen. Seems that safety isn’t a priority in Ottawa?
Both are stupid ideas. The implementation of $1 beer didn’t really do anything or was implemented well. This idea probably isn’t going to be implemented well either.

When I collect EI I am better off than when I work full time as a trucker. Work has been decentivized for essentially the entire private sector. Like I’m scared to do anything as any activity could incur a bill which cripples my family. I have also taken on new debts which will result in bankruptcy. I had to. We were stuck in an arbitrary EI waiting period and my power got shut off. I have little kids. I can’t keep food in the neighbors freezer.
This is how economies die. We are all about to experience famine.

How about a flat rate buck a day income tax instead?
Unsustainable unless your looking to cut 100% of employees pension funds and ensuring no one work more then 31 hours a week to ensure no medical benefits and so much more..its not a cost reduction it’s a 100% tax shift ,cost forced to someone eles

Reduce revenues of transits during the period of sharp increase of oil prices? It was shocking that include GO’s as well. So GO could lose $20 revenue per rider per day. But they can’t tell who will make up the shortfall? Maybe our property taxes….again? I really don’t want to back to the corrupted & reckless McGuinty/Wynne days again!
As a TTC rider, I wish they made it more expensive but BETTER. Instead of 3.50, make it 4.50 but run the busses more frequently.
