Jan 6 should not be a factor. The election is completed and decided. The only thing left is the formality for Congress to ratify the decision of the people and the “electoral college”. If anything disrupts that, it is an attempt to overthrow the government and the democratic republic of America. We will see and will have to keep a record of those who try.

In the 1950s, Detroit had 3 outdoor Olympic-sized swimming pools that were open free to the public every morning and afternoon. We walked 5 miles a day to get there with a paperbag lunch. Thousands of us waited in line to get in. The swimmers and divers practicing for the Olympic Team got the use of the pools at mid-day after the authorities shooed the public out. We would sit on the grass, eat our lunch, and developed our own sense of what constituted a perfectly executed dive. We would walk the 5 miles back home, regardless of hot it was, so that we could be home in time for dinner. Compared to those early days, the isolation during this pandemic has sometimes seemed overwhelming. To maintain some sort of connection with other humans, I listen to the extraordinary talented people on the Voice or watch the “flash mobs” from a few years ago. Language is not a barrier for some things.
