On Wednesday August 16, 2017, the official media launch of the 2017 Independence Celebrations was held at the studios of the Government information Service. There were addresses by the Hon. Minister for Youth, Sports, Culture and Constituency Empowerment, Justina Charles, Hon Minister for Social Services, Community Development and Gender Affairs, Lady Catherine Daniel, Chief Cultural Officer, Raymond Lawrence and Local Government Commissioner John Fontaine.
