Drew, cannot pardon state crimes. Good news, isn’t it?
He has federal crimes too. That’s why he should’ve left office so Pence could’ve pardoned him. Now, he has to pay the piper with federal and state charges.
A Presidential Pardon only applies to crimes against the United States. The Governor of a State has the authority the pardon a person for crimes that violate their States Laws.

If he was prosecuted for just a tenth of his criminal activities, it would tie up the courts for years. He probably would never see the inside of a jail. Especially with him packing the courts with hundreds of favorable republican judges. That’s why reps have been so intent on doing nothing but packing the courts. If Trump attempts to pardon himself or his family, it would in essence would be an admission of guilt. Shameless.
@Oden Moore the status of the self pardon is unclear. The Supreme Court has never ruled on that issue. I think they would rule against it. And I suspect Trump would try it if he can’t arrange for Pence to do it.
And I’ve seen discussion that Trump’s ego might prevent him from stepping down to let Pence pardon him. Which means he might try a self pardon.
I’ve also read speculation that he won’t pardon any members of his administration because that gives him leverage to testify against them for leniency in his own case. I’m not sure I buy that line of logic.
In any case these are side issues. My main focus was too clear up the fact that pardons could be given before the person was even charged of a crime. And they can be given as a blank pardon for a period of time for any crimes committed during that time.

@bob padok I know he is not taking his wage. But that is peanuts in comparison of all the money he is making of the presidency.
He complained about the golfing of Obama but golfs way more (almost every weekend and holidays) and on his expensive resorts (prices went up a lot when he became president). The commute with Airforce one, also is something like 1 million dollar.
Of course a president has to be protected. But it is rather strange that the government has to pay Trump to be able to protect Trump. It is not only the room and the meals they have to pay Trump for but also outrageous prices for renting golfcharts. This has cost tens of millions of dollars.
According his taxreturns he has been loosing money for years and basically paying almost no federal income taxes.
His companies are not loosing money because of his presidency. They were all ready loosing. And if he is loosing, that means that his sons are doing a terrible job. For his inauguration he raised a lot more money than Obama, but had less activities. Where was the money spent on? One expenditure is known. All the inauguration parties were held in a Trump property. The prices were way above normal rates. But there is still a lot of money unaccounted for.
Trump’s campaign has outstanding bills for the expenses of cities for security during the rallies.
And there is so much more.
To be clean, I am personally not funding his golftrips because I am European.
