5:12 It is not for the Senate or the Director of Public Prosecutions to decide….. Prison sentences are decided by the Privy Council…. The Privy Council suspended the execution of prisoners by hanging, then replaced it with life imprisonment with 25 years release on parole.

These lawyers have no regard for life, they are no better than the kili kili dem. Ok we sorry for them, 30 years wow that’s evil. They will suffer if they get so much time and we can’t afford that. Dpp trying to box food out the lawyers mouth. Dpp want to reduce the turnaround time for each unit, if a man go in at 30, how can he be of any use to lawyers at 60. Dpp that don’t make no sense. Presently we get to represent these guys 4 or 5 times in their lifetime, you want to reduce that by 80%. Can’t work! Give them 5 years per life so we can see them every 4 to 5 years. 😆 🤣 I swear this is the discussion in high places. Noone to represent the innocent people. Smh

Ppl cannot be sitting ducks. Anything can be a weapon and walking with a knife or scissors can help to fend off a would be assailant. If you can’t keep people safe, you can’t expect to walk around empty handed
We agree persons must get very long sentences of life in prison for murder, We think this would significantly lower this type of crime in Jamaica. However, we also believe that those who may say that they don’t agree because they want shorter time for criminals in Jamaica are condoning and aiding and abetting criminal activities in Jamaica. We all think the sentencing guideline must change.DPP this is the way to go.

only a criminal would defend criminal, I think it should be 50yrs to life for taking a person life.
If a Jamaican Authority listen to these attorney all criminals would be walk free on the street of Jamaica,and commit in crime without no end in sight, because all these attorneys thinking about is money in their pocket, they have no regard for human life, they challenge every laws that the authority put out there because it going to affect their pocket, but the politician have to understand that the people vote for them and not the attorney, so there job is to protect the people.
I disagree with him, I think that they need to get life with no parole because if they think they can get a 10 to 15 or get bail they would commit a crime, but if they know it would be 40 years of their life in gail they might think twice.

Today is Friday, and from Wednesday traffic backing up already along the corrider. The corrider from, let’s say Discovery Bay to Mammee is a single road with the exception when you reach St Ann’s Bay and go through the town. However, the highway leading in and out of st Ann’s Bay had a gridlock…..even the back roads in st Ann’s Bay had traffic jam. Unruly motorist continue to travel on the soft shoulder. Wish more police were available to be on the “soft shoulder” taking away vehicles.
Violent murder should be classified as first-degree murder. If a guy plan in advance to kill someone should be classified as first-degree. If someone kills another during a fight could be classified as second-degree murder and so on. Murder in the first degree or murder in the second degree. The family of the murdered person should be able to sue the murderer or his estate
