The city of Minneapolis has reached settlements totaling more than $8.8 million in two civil lawsuits that accuse former police officer Derek Chauvin of using excessive force in two incidents that happened nearly three years before he killed George Floyd during an arrest. CNN's Natasha Chen shares details surrounding newly released footage of the two incidents associated with the lawsuits. #CNN #News

it’s been 3 years almost since it happened. Feels like 10 years ago at this point
Blm Biden 2024
I miss Fentanyl Floyd. Glad he was able to kick the habit tho 👍
People don’t become policemen for the same reasons they become firemen.
Maga still lost in Nov 2020 and Jan 6 & derek chauvin case & Ahmaud Arbery case & Kim potter case and the CA recall.
They do it for the money because they think they can’t do anything else.
@DarthSailorMoon They would still do it, even if there was no money in it.
He should’ve never been an officer at all there should’ve been an investigation to both cases, he’s a killer, he didn’t care how he treated people or women, he should’ve been in jail from the moment the first case started. The police department should’ve done a better job, now they have paid the price. This man is a killer and he was a ticking time bomb waiting to kill someone right away no matter what.
That trooper, Chris Hollingsworth, was widely seen as the most culpable of the half-dozen officers involved, but he died in a high-speed, single-vehicle crash in 2020 just hours after he was informed he would be fired over his role in Greene’s arrest.
He was a good officer
Imagine if the supervisors were actually held responsible for keeping these murderous cops on. Change would be quick and swift.
@Harold and the officers who beat up Rodney king were found not guilty
Instead of the city paying the settlement, they should take the money from police pensions.
@T. R. Campbell Irrelevant
@Jar Head Imagine if you weren’t racist
There is no reasonable excuse for an adult to kneel on the neck of a woman laying on the ground with her hands cuffed behind her back.
If she did something wrong, arrest her and bring her in. Write your report and the rest is for the judicial system.
There is
He is a sadist psychopath who obviously enjoys it. I hope he gets the same treatment in prison!
Now you tell me
Playing the gender card.
Omg! Why did no one charge him for what he did to the kid?!!! That’s horrible!
Dont worry he was back on the streets committing crime in no time, and yes, still disrespecting the officers who would protect him if he called for help.
@Rob Maynard i wonder if the disrespecting puke followed commands if we would have this discussion
@Jaak Savat whos desk was you under when you read that?
@Facts not feelings thats racist to assume black guys would cause harm to him. Im ashamed of you 😐
@Patrick Wade police are a service to society, not judge jury and executioner or torturers.
Would you call people who support this guy “Chauvinists?”
I love how everybody just stood their checking their emails while he was trying to cut off air and or blood supplies.
It makes sense now. He’s been doing this for years and no one stopped him.
Yeah when it all happened with George Floyd (RIP) I knew there had to of been more…… what a waste Derek Chauvin is
And finally got caught!!
One of them was a 14 year old boy. There were at least 4 officers there. How many did you need to control a 14 year old boy?! If you’re that Incompetent than you shouldn’t have the job at all. 😏 Let alone the impunity to abuse people. Which you can tell hiw the other officers just stood there while it was happening that this was what he regularly did. So you know this is embedded into the culture there. 🤨
@Javon tavenor Derek deserves a medal 🏅
He got a fair trial, which is a lot more than Floyd got.
floyd shoud of have life in prison for his felony on women assault
@Mail S Perhaps we should sentence you to life in prison for murdering the English language.
Isn’t this how the majority of criminals are? They spend a lifetime committing crimes and then when held responsible, they cry about an unfair witch hunt.
Like Trump
Hearing that mother beg for her son not to be killed is heartbreaking and disgusting. I’m thankful that he’s behind bars where he belongs. But there are other Chauvins out there and we need meaningful reform to protect us from them. It’s a shame to need protection from those we are paying to protect us.
@East Africa you don’t have to give any empathy I’m more than sure the $8 million. The family just received is all the compensation they need they don’t need your empathy, your prayers or anything from you. The officer involved is serving 20 years in a prison cell and the family will be living the rest of their lives in luxury
@S Mikell so luxury doesn’t stop tragedy and they probably are still waiting for that money 😂
@Demoj Rovtlinsky I agree. There are bad cops. But there are junkies that need to be put in their place.
Oh..this stirs up my heartbreak again. I’m so glad that monster is locked up. Also that these people win their lawsuits. “ He should have been fired in 2017”.
That’s his signature move and no one said anything until he finally went too far
I think a lot of people said plenty and the Minneapolis police closed ranks against them.
The knee thing is a standard police restraining method. The cop at Chauvin’s trial admitted he had done the same thing many times.
How far?
He clearly gets off on power. Long duration with the knee on the neck, never asks if the person under him is okay, just casually looks around and with George Floyd looked like he had a smirk on his face.
No murderer just wake up one day and become a murderer‼️ The murderer should have a history of evidences of violences, brutal, hateful, discriminative, racism, psychological disturb, abnormal behaviors, and etc.‼️ We definitely need law enforcement reforms‼️‼️‼️
When people say we need to get tough on crime, we need to also start getting tough on criminal cops. They usually do not get as much time as a regular citizen despite them supposedly being held to a higher standard and having more training to no better than to do certain things.
This man is where he belongs but his superiors should also be held responsible since they had evidence of his murderous behaviour and received previous complaints but did nothing! Their heads should roll as well.
Caught on camera is NEVER the first time crooked cops step outta line
Arrest the supervisors then? They let this guy do these type of things without any repercussion
Add 100 years to the sentence he’s already serving 👍
