The United Kingdom has identified a new, potentially more contagious coronavirus variant linked to a recent surge in cases in England.
The new variant is being called VUI-202012/01 — the first "Variant Under Investigation" in the UK in December 2020. While scientists hunt for more information about the variant, its impact is already being felt.
Multiple countries have now imposed restrictions on travelers from the UK. British Health Secretary Matt Hancock said Sunday that the variant was "out of control" and Prime Minister Boris Johnson chaired an emergency meeting Monday as his government tried to manage the fallout.

It’s such a lie that this strain started in the UK, it was first detected in the UK. The UK does 40% of the world’s genomic testing. It very well could be in european countries already.
They have traced it to a hospital in Kent, a therapy to help a dying patient led to the mutation and it escaped.

Chris Whitby the UK chief medical officer said that the UK has uploaded to WHO and other sites by far the most Genome data on Covid to other countries and the UK is being transparent and alerting the world as China should have done when this whole thing started. The US is much larger than the UK and Covid has been running rampant across the country, I find it hard to believe that this variant is not there already. I suspect it because Trump does want testing, he hardly going to want indepth research into it.
