NC elections board says it can disqualify Rep. Cawthorn from running over January 6

The North Carolina State Board of Elections said that it has the power to block GOP Rep. Madison Cawthorn from running for reelection over his role in the January 6 insurrection — an open legal question at the center of liberal-backed efforts to disqualify him from future office. #CNN #News

  1. Not one person in Congress has faced repercussions from their disgusting actions we as the people need Justice

    1. @David Kirby That was murder. You can’t just shoot unarmed people. I guess you can if you are one of Nancy’s capitol police. You know Nancy’s police are stealing information off GOP computers. The one who they did it to had nothing to do with January 6th. It’s not the GOP who are crooks it’s your leadership that is the problem.

    1. @MJB With all due respect…I have yet to see the evidence that supports your claims on such questions as whether or not Biden actually lost 18 out of 19 bellwether counties (just to cite one example), among other claims. And, in fact, when it comes to the American people as a whole — Donald Trump was consistently (in poll after poll – of every political persuasion) throughout the entirety of his presidency — the most UNpopular Republican president since Herbert Hoover — while Ronald Reagan stands as the most popular Republican president. Decades of presidential approval polls, from Gallup to Harris, and everything in between — make that proposition absolutely incontrovertible. We have to face the facts, about that issue. Thanks for your comments. 👌🏽

  2. To the lady speaker: This is not throwing out what voters choose, it is preventing treasonous criminals from being allowed run in the future.

    1. @Mental Democrats You didn’t send me a link about Biden or a stolen election. You didn’t teach me anything. You were never right in any of your arguments. You didn’t know any of the things I posted and when you figured out you were wrong you just claimed that’s what you meant the entire time. On a thread where all of your previous posts are visible. You have a good night crazy. Maybe tomorrow I’ll explain how the election wasn’t stolen. I’ll know you are convinced when you say to me. “See, that’s what I’ve been saying this entire time. Now you get it”

    2. @Mental Democrats
      “…not only…threatened…they need to die”
You finally acknowledge what the fascist Cawthorn said, as you demonstrate your own fascism.
You also demonstrate, with a flourish, that you belong on a watch list or better yet a mental institution.

    3. @Mental Democrats You wrote, “It was either stolen or every single person that voted for this POS is racist. Which one is it?” That is an example of the false dilemma logical fallacy. It is an informal fallacy used in rhetoric that presents two choices, both unappealing, when other choices obviously exist.

Try again, you can do better. Next time attempt an argument. An argument needs a conclusion and at least two premises. A premises is a statement that supports your conclusion. Your conclusion is the point you are trying to convince your audience to believe.

  3. We can’t keep being scared of what the people that do bad will do to the people that support truth. We have to stand up for what’s right and not let fear stop us from doing what’s right

    1. Agreed, much of the democratic party is too scared on many issues around trump and his toxic support base.
The fact is the Trump base and the far right are like bullies that punch a person simply because they flinched or reacted in any way possible.
So this leaves the Democratic base so scared of “looking” like they instigated the problems by taking any action whatsoever they end up doing the bare minimum.
What this really does is empowers the bullies/toxic far right into using violence as a weapon to get whatever they want and while that happens the Democratic support base loses faith and stops voting (also empowering the far right to win more elections)

  4. It is about their ideology as a whole. We need to stand up for our democracy. Voting rights, equal rights, freedom of religion…the insurrection was a stand to end all by inserting a dictator at the helm of our government by force and violence, simultaneously attacking our systems.

    1. @Samuel McMurray are you blind,or just refuse to listen to the real truth. How much do you need to see? Everyday we learn more. Why are you incapable of learning ? Maybe because you know your wrong and trolling .

    2. @michael hammersley Wow.. ok, just butting in here.. “are you blind” .. Are we all blind to things or is Biden doing a good job? Are we ALL blind to Kamala Harris being in over her head everyday on the job? Or will we just continue to overlook it? Are we, as a country, wanting to step back into an Obama type global/ nat’l idealistic govt? I don’t! Do you?

  5. The law exists clearly in black and whatever colour that parchment paper is, and yet here we are debating the demerits of disqualifying him 🤔

    1. @Death to Democracy considering that is a lie, no he doesn’t. Why do you believe everything your fake news tells you?

    2. @Lance Ash Theocratic regimes are basically authoritarianism in practical terms. So hardly surprising that an elitist who wants to curtail the right of people to vote based on wealth would prefer them to a democracy.

    3. @Jew Dy LOL You lefties should be the last ones to tell others about fake news. Also, it can’t be a lie when they already admitted the truth themselves

    4. @Death to Democracy your fake news lied you, Karen. BLM donated money to state and local races. You know, the people who are in charge of the police. The president can’t do anything to stop the police from murdering black people with impunity.

_Let’s take the moment to appreciate how much effort he puts into the content for us_ 💗

    2. Lies are Qualifications for Republicans, where they would be Disqualifications for Democrats. There’s your answer.

    3. They vote for him because his punchline is “owning the Libs”. How him and Borbert hold an office blows my mind.

  6. No one made him take the actions he did. If he disqualified himself, then he has only himself to blame. Why is it questionable that people do not want a person(s) actively moving to destroy American democracy in a place of power in that same democracy?

  7. Shouldn’t that amendment also be used for the half-a-dozen other members of Congress who have been linked to the insurrection?

    2. Shouldn’t that amendment be used for all the democrat reps who supported the 2020 riots? I mean seriously how are we gonna say one riot on a building the people pay taxes for targeting peoples who salary we fund are worse than the 500 riots that targeted local businesses where the end result was 2 billion in damages. Over 100 capital police was hurt but what about the over 2,000 officers injured during the “peaceful protests’

  8. Cawthorn talking about taking up arms against people. He is also Aiding and Abetting Insurrectionists. It is a Legal Issue.

  9. While we’re talking about getting Cawthorn disqualified, shouldn’t Trump himself be disqualified on the same basis? Could Trump be disqualified one state election board at a time?

  10. Isn’t this also “holding congressmen accountable” like Cawthorn suggested?

Seems that’s EXACTLY what they are doing, and I think it’s great. He’s ready to burn it all down with his power trip and adoration.

There are consequences for everyone, Cawthorne and other politicians & leaders should be held to an equal (if not higher standard). Crazy logic to these folks. Hypocrisy is king in the GOP (all parties to be fair, just one reason I’m independent and staying that way). Party politics is a dirty game I don’t really want to play.
Imagine thinking there’s one right answer and one right (righteous) group.

While it’s a way to distinguish different stances and goals, it really is set up to benefit them individually and collectively (fighting like dogs even amongst their own).

  11. The French got more Balls then Americans They would have charged everybody that breached that building with Treason…They actually jailed their former President..

    1. I would have been happy if the guards had opened fire and taken out hundreds of traitors. I hope that a firing squad will be used on Trump and others as a deterrent to other Republicans.

  12. This isn’t about “beating” anyone. It’s about not allowing an enemy to our democracy to govern and get away with a coup.

  13. It’s crazy how so many people these days can get away with so much, when the following consequences should be elementary.

  14. Didn’t Rump just “give comfort” in a recent speech saying ” I will pardon” the horrible insurrectionists? This bell needs to be ring several times

  15. This has to be a thing where supporting insurrection and violent overthrow results in disqualification. Full stop.
