Roseau, Dominica – September 1, 2008………Minister for National Security, Immigration and Labour, Hon. Rayburn Blackmoore will participate in the 8th Conference of the Defence Ministers of the Americas (CDMA), which will be held from September 2nd to September 6th 2008 in Banff, Canada.
The theme for the 2008 Conference is “Hemispheric, Regional and Sub-regional Defence and Security Enhancement: Confidence Building through Cooperation and Collaboration”. The agenda to be developed in consultation with CDMA countries and with regional experts, will focus on the increasing convergence of hemispheric security and defence issues and the resultant need to cooperate more closely in order to achieve the goals of security, democratic development and prosperity.
The Conference of Defence Ministers of the Americas (CDMA) is an important forum for promoting peace and security in the western hemisphere.
The Conference is expected to provide another excellent forum for the nations of the western hemisphere to exchange ideas, share experiences, and deepen cooperation in matters related to defence and security.
Honourable Blackmoore is joined at the conference by the Secretary to the Cabinet, Mr. Felix Gregoire.
