    1. There is inadequate health care investment because there is nothing to invest. The cupboard is bare and everyone still has their hand out.

    2. @skate metal There owned typically by not for profit foundations. Yes private, but no shareholders benefiting from profit. They do have to balance the books however.

  1. Spend money and hire more! It’s pretty simple. Taking away beds year after year for the past 30 years and this is what you get. You reap what you sow.

    1. Chronicly crumby regional economic productivity makes that hard. Not enough $$ to go around. Who will accept a cut back in their favorite lower priority service so that higher priority services can be funded?

  3. I could go back 20 years and find basically this same story… it’s almost as if this is a management problem more than anything else…

    1. Chronicly low regional economic productivity for decades. Federal transfers can’t keep up. The cupboard is bare and everyone keeps their hand out.
