Thank you for having a frank discussion about the immediate impact on the “underbelly” of our society and economy. Most of those in positions of power are clueless about life for the working class, let alone those at the even more precarious margins. The economy will grind to a halt everywhere as it already has in some areas. This might not go away anytime soon. If it does “go away soon” so much the better but it makes me sick to think the manufacturing supply chain is not even mobilized yet for critical supplies. This is a basic national security priority!

As a hospital RN, I’m so tired of hearing from trump sycophants .. pretending Trump is doing a great job when he clearly has made this so much worse than it ever had to be. Trump dismantled the pandemic preparedness program, thinking it unnecessary. Such ignorance. That was his first mistake. Then, he denied it was a problem, calling it a Democratic hoax, instead of preparing when there was still a chance to manage it’s spread. He lied & lied, blames the Dems or Obama or those around him…his usual MO,..pretending whatever he wishes were not true…was not true, completely delusional. Then when the criticism began for his mismanagement….he decided to try & artificially keep the numbers low by not allowing testing for it. (another form of lying) This should be criminal. Testing was our only tool against this pandemic & trump commanded the CDC to only allow testing in people who had traveled to China or were intimately associated with a known covid positive person. (hard to know if you’ve been in contact with someone with the virus when no one could be tested.) This went on for 2 months.That intentional delay in testing means we lost any hope of containment. Now he says publicly that anyone can be tested…another lie. Go to an ER & see if you can be tested. We don’t have the tests because he didn’t want to use the german tests the whole world is using. He had made a deal with an American company…. they got the contract for billions of gov’t money to produce the tests, … for a large campaign donation. That company has still been unable to produce enough of the tests. Now, he’s inviting other companies to try to do better, but it’s too late…..the horse is out of the barn….testing now will only tell us that yes….that patient had covid, & they infected all the nurses, Dr’s & staff at hospital as well as their kids & all the kids in their kids school & all their classmates parents & every person at their church….their jobs & all the people in the stores where they have all shopped…..on & on & on. It’s too late to contain it now. Most of us will get it & the families of those who die should do a class action suit against the trump administration for the unnecessary loss of life. Containment was something to do at the onset, then we could have isolated the few exposed. Because we didn’t, that ship has sailed. It was never trumps fault that the virus came here but it most certainly is his fault that testing was delayed preventing containment. Oh & btw, no… I’m not a Democrat or a liberal…I was a lifelong Republican up until the trump cult took over. The way I see it it is much easier to fool people than it is to convince them that they have been fooled.
