On May 25, 1993, then-prime minister Brian Mulroney made a statement after signing the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement. The Agreement, which took nearly 20 years to negotiate, gave the Inuit of Nunavut a separate territory and the ability to self-govern. #CTVNewsArchive

  1. So are they self reliant? I can feel confident that less & less Canadian dollars are needed to support this community & in fact they are giving back to Canada to make Canada the strong nation it should be.

  2. Asiatics aka Inuit, have no better claim to parts of Canada than the European settlers. One group arrived via ice bridge, the other by ship. What’s the difference?
