@Mad Phyn well literally nkt every health professional because I know a doctor ehom has been dealing with cases of it and he says that very few have bad symptoms and the ones that died had compromised immune systems that would have most likely died from the flu/cold.
@Matthew Sigurdson In large part, that is in line with what the entire medical community has been saying. We knew all of that already.
However, this virus is far more dangerous than the flu, for several reasons. A mortality rate of 1-3% is quite alarming. It is also more transmissible than the flu, has a longer incubation which makes it easier to spread and harder to track, we have no immunity and are not experienced at making vaccines for this kind of virus, and it may even cause permanent lung damage.
There are actually two strains floating around, one of which is less deadly and virulent. Maybe your doctor friend has only been dealing with that strain in your area. It still has at least a .5-1% mortality though, which is several times deadlier than the flu.
