Loughlin, Giannulli To Plead Guilty To Conspiracy Charges In College Admissions Scandal | MSNBC
Bought their way out. Ironic.
Yep.
WOW, that is all they got?
The fine is LESS than the bribery money! Clearly that amount isnt a hardship for them. Should be way more!
Like real questions because I really don’t know, but how big of a crime is this supposed to be? Should they’ve been locked up a lot longer?
Justin Rakestraw They took the chance away from a deserving student who could have used it to make a difference in the world with a great education…instead the college took in a YouTube “influencer”, who herself said she just wanted to party and not go to class…
Those people who work hard to try to make their lives better will always be second class to those who have money…
Well they’re rich. Were we expecting them to receive a working class sentence? Of course not.
@Neil Patel you mean the same one that flips burgers at McDonald’s and has a 4 year degree
That’s a cake walk all things considered
They had to do a perp walk, however.
When the Rich commit crimes. The media use the word Scandal. Ask yourself why
And, because they are rich and famous, they likely won’t serve any time because of COVID-19. You see all these famous people getting let out because of it and they will too.
@Vex TheGreat yep…Cohen isxalready out..lol
If they paid half million to get those spoiled-bratty girls into USC, shouldn’t the fine be at least that much?
Those two are so lucky the pandemic hit when it did. Those two will probably serve less time behind bars than Felicity Hoffman did. This COVID is almost a ‘get out of jail’ free card.
@Warren you have no right to complain about a corrupt system you support.
@person who’s real haha you Moron, I’m not complaining about anything at all. What exactly am I complaining about? Since you refuse to answer my initial question i doubt I’ll get an answer to this one either but oh well. I don’t support our joke of a “justice system” but i do support capitalism and freedom… so what am I complaining about?
@Sarah Lee ???
Leo Peridot bottomline Biden is a loser 2020
@Sarah Lee You never heard School of Hard Knocks? School song is; IT’S A HARD KNOCK LIFE.’
Aunt Becky behind bars.
You got it dude.
How much you want to bit they will serve their time at home because of Covid-19?
They should make them go to prison with the bloods and crips lol
At lease they will have a criminal record.
That depends on who they bribe this time.
‘Home arrest’ means saving ‘taxpayer money’. Why is that bad?
The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
Half a million to get into USC? LOL. Relatively speaking, it’s not THAT hard to get into – their grades and test scores must have been weak. For half a million – that should have gotten them into something a lot more prestigious – Stanford, Claremont Colleges, etc. – ROTFL.
@Drew R America in a nutshell.
@SuperStud 9000 The world in a nutshell.
You must live outside of California to say that!
their daughters are both ugly and stupid…both can’t be fixed
@Haron Arama No it isn’t.
Outrageous. See what stonewalling and lawyers can do? Even a plea of 2 months is absurd.
Will get out in week
on good behavior 😁
🙄 why is it absurd?
College is WAY overrated…sooooo, who really cares?
Besides you…for whatever reason.
@Calgacus of Caledonia I agree. College is where females go to get ran through by a bunch of Chads and Tyrones, and then find a sucker to get married to. lol Trade schools, particularly for men, are WAY better.
@J Dee Why else did you think she wanted her dumbos to go there?
Anyone else feel like they should be punished more than someone with a little baggie of weed should be?
@Ghost Dancer How are you gonna say that athletes are overpaid when they’re the ones responsible for bringing in the revenue. Kids tell their parents to buy tickets because they want to see Zion dunk, not because they want to see a 80 year old white man coach
@AntiSocialJusticeWarrior sports falls under entertainment and they are grossly overpaid. Their used to be “sports heros” figures for kids to look up to that ended with the “Joe Montana” era. Now you name it steroid use, drug use, felony criminal records as well as committing misdemeanor & felony crimes. Sports leagues need to clean up their “yard” because right now it’s a dirty litter box that’s way over due for cleaning.
@AntiSocialJusticeWarrior not “usually” as you say but ALL jobs, careers etc have bad apples. When the position is one that’s in the “public eye” it is noticed immediately versus one that is not in the public eye. But for example for a career in law enforcement only 1 to 2 % EVER get chosen, meet the qualifications and pass the interview process to be given the honor and burden of wearing a badge.
@Ghost Dancer Woah….I never seen someone put so much blame on athletes before. Do you understand how economics work? Since athletes bring in a large revenue to their sports leagues and brands that sponsor them, they get paid based off of that. It has nothing to do with your personal feelings about them. And I feel like sports figures or some of the more honest public figures for you to look up to. When Steph Curry makes a 3, it was because of skill and hard work, not because he knows the right people at the right place at the right time like a lot of professional fields. Everything with sports is based on ticket revenue, jersey sales, tv partnerships, sponsors etc etc. Theres different sources for income that’s why they get paid so much.
@Ghost Dancer With the second comment, you’re just agreeing with me. The thing is someone like a doctor, lawyer and educator are supposed to have integrity while athletes aren’t as serious of careers. But educators basically repeat what is in a curriculum and don’t have much flexibility to talk about serious topics i.e. race and why some people have more opportunities than other. Doctors team up with big pharma to wrongly diagnose people and keep them medicated, and lawyers, well lawyers will do anything their client tells them.
I’m actually finding it very difficult to find an honest person in a powerful position who doesn’t have their own hidden agenda.
This isn’t news. How many politicians had their kids bought into a private school?
@Christina Garner to be fair I see a ton more Trump supporters in the comments throwing out insults than I do leftist. It’s an issue on both sides. At least be honest with yourself about that.
@Matt O’Byrne I have a college degree in accounting. Democrats wouldn’t know anything about that.
@Steel Magnolia than speak as such. My wife is Dr and Democrat honey. Are you telling me because she’s a Democrat you’re more intelligent and educated than she is? Please tell us more about how supporting a divisive ineffectual leader with a regressive idealogy and compulsive lying habit makes you more intelligent and superior than those who don’t. The Democratic party actually has a higher number of college educated members than the Republican party does, just a little fact for you.
Christina Garner That’s is funny since you claim blacks would be given a celebration for breaking the law which a child could debunk using common sense. To now pretend you are the voice of reason making such idiotic claims despite all the evidence that shows it would be the exact opposite indicates like so many of you opioid and or meth use on your part is a logical assumption.
@Sirius B If Oprah had only had children….
What a great endorsement of our so called justice system. They dragged it out vowing to go to court to stand by their innocence then settle for two months jail time of which actual time will most likely be cut in half and even that time would probably be reduced to house arrest which is fine during COVID19. Yay….America!!!!
And America brags that it has the best justice system in the world.
It seems they got enough money to pay more than just their spoiled kids way through the system.
Nail university that excepts bribes!!!!!!!!
judge: I sentence you to 5 minutes jail time with four minutes time served.
Defense atty: Your honor , my client would like to appeal.
Hahahahahaha!! Incredible isn’t it?
why shouldnt she spill the beans on all the other bribes these universities take if she got a hard sentence, they cant have that.
If these two were average citizens, they’d have had to spend years, not months, in prison. Wealth and fame are all that’s necessary to get preferential treatment in our justice system. It’s better to be wealthy and guilty than to be poor and innocent.
Contrary to what we are told daily, America is not the best country in the world. The South Korean president is in jail for fraud, American president who committed a crime went to San Clemente.
A mother got years for lying about her dress o her child could go to a good school, disproportionate crimes and convictions
@Ken Lompart There is nothing slow about me hotdog.
@Lynn Lamont You could have fooled me buttercup.
@D H That woman who spent years in jail “for using a family members address” was actually quite a miss-carriage of journalism… Actually there were two of them. One woman, Tanya McDowell was really arrested for selling drugs in the school zone of her son (two counts actually). The media made it seem like she was charged because of the address thing, but that was just the plead down from the drug charges. Often someone will have a whole bunch of charges against them and will plead down to a significantly lesser charge because the prosecution doesn’t want to waste the time on the trial. In this case, most of the media then pretended that was the only charge, but looking up the actual charges is just a standard public records search.
The other woman (Kelley Williams-Bolar) used her father’s address to pretend to be from a poor neighborhood so she could get 30,000$ worth of tuition that should have gone to some actually poor kid from that neighborhood. Basically, it was a program to help people from a poor neighborhood go to a nicer school, so she pretended to be from the poor neighborhood and stole the spot from the poor kids that should have got it. But again, by the time the media was done with her, she was a hero and hardly anyone mentioned that she was displacing even poorer kids.
What a joke! Seriously 2 months!!!
$150k fine for them is comparable to $1 for the average person.
Less than the value of the crime.
You are wrong! It’s like $1.50 to them!
Sirius B lol
I was hoping for a longer sentence for a very smug actress that thought she was above the law and going to court would vindicate her on what she believed were stupid charges.
Some how she will probably only serve a couple of weeks. If you have the money you do not have to serve the time!
They’re trying to get this out the way while everyone is essentially on house arrest… The paparazzi also isn’t going to hound them at the moment.
I’d have had more respect for them had they said they were guilty to begin with and apologized sincerely. Now it’s just a matter of a plea deal that they liked. Guess money can buy you anything 🙄
$500,000 in bribes to get their daughters into USC? How about have them study, do their homework and EARN their way into college like my kid!
