I was just thinking today about what trump felt when he saw the mail-in ballots being counted and his leads disappearing. His horror, his disbelief, his anger. I think everyone knew that the final tallies would be delayed. And maybe that’s why he didn’t want mail in voting; can’t use suppressive tactics with that except to remove mail boxes and sorting machines.
Trump still tried to suppress mail in votes by having his installed cronies in the post office remove and destroy the sorting machines such that they could not be replaced before the election. They even instigated rules that intentionally delayed mail during that period with the intent of preventing mail in votes arriving in time to be counted. Luckily, there were enough votes against trump to overcome the inflicted delays.
And then , in a great act of amnesia labelled the same postal ballot counts as ” massive dumps”. And his foolish supporters lapped it up.

America, and the world, is watching this trial and what each Senator does from here. All those who do not vote to convict will be complicit in Trump’s undeniable shame and unconscionable crimes. That will come back to haunt them.

@Tracy Lemon Not a shred of evidence was ever presented by Trump’s lawyers that it was stolen. Just a bunch of talk. And none will be presented in this current “trial”. And when Trump is criminally charged for inciting violence, it won’t be presented then, because there is no evidence that the ele3ction was stolen. Unfortunately some people believe everything they hear that matches what they want to hear.

Before World War II, Charles Lindbergh typified American heroism with his daring flights, including the first solo transatlantic flight, and his celebration of new technology. He parlayed his fame and heroic stature into a leading role in the America First movement, which opposed America’s entrance into the war against Nazi Germany. The America First movement was the public face of pro-fascist sentiment in the United States at that time. The Immigration Act of 1924 strictly limited immigration into the country, and it was specifically intended to restrict the immigration of both nonwhites and Jews.
In this era, the likes of Toxic Trump and Marginalized Greene have become the face of the new “America First” fascist movement built up over the last four decades by the GOP, Reich-wing plutocrats, demagogues, and media. But, as with Lindbergh, the American people gradually come to recognize their dysfunctional poison and reject it. Most Americans want competent leaders who speak truth, who strive to unite, who are not corrupt, who care about them. So, it should come as no surprise that President Biden is already receiving high marks from the public, while Toxic Trump never managed to rise above even a 50% approval rating. As soon as Trump summoned his minions to DC on the 6th and said it would be wild, I knew it would be violent and assumed everyone else would as well. Here on YouTube, I was advocating lawmakers bring sleeping bags and large picnic baskets to the Capitol on the 5th and hunker down for the coming siege. What I did not anticipate is that the National Guard would not already be there in force to stop them.
An important note during the impeachment trial: I believe the comments stating that “the senate will never convict him, anyway” should stop. Think about it – the insurrectionist, US constitution hating, QAnon, murder-supporting republican politicians have heard those comments clearly and decided to go down what they believe is the path of least resistance toward their own political careers.
They’ve heard those comments and decided to take us up on it. They believe they’ve snaked their way out of accountability because, after all, we don’t expect them to convict. We *must* show them that we insist on conviction, will continue to hold them accountable, and that we not accept them acquitting Trump of his undeniable and clearly provable crimes.
This is not a position of simple optimism. It is a position of strength, of justice, of legal and moral demands. Demand justice, demand it continually and loudly, and don’t back down to republican senators who think they can just sit back and let the criminals have their way. Demand justice, and don’t encourage self-fulfilling defeatism.

Morally , legally , you are correct but your argument assumes 2 factual fallacies: the probity and courage of at least 17 republicans in the Senate . It’s a shame for our country but it is what it is.

Has everyone forgotten that he laid the same groundwork for an insurrection, in the run-up to 2016 (because no one, including him, expected him to win)? In the run-up, he repeatedly called the election “rigged” and claimed that if he lost it was because it was “rigged” and threatened not to accept the results, unless he won. It seems like everyone’s forgotten that.
