Liz Cheney: The evidence is there to prosecute Trump

Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney said if the Justice Department does not prosecute former President Donald Trump for his role in the insurrection at the US Capitol and "the facts and the evidence are there," the decision could call into question whether the United States can "call ourselves a nation of laws."
In an interview with CNN's Kasie Hunt, Cheney — the GOP vice chair of the House select committee investigating the events surrounding the January 6, 2021, insurrection — said Trump is "guilty of the most serious dereliction of duty of any president in our nation's history" and pointed to a judge who's said he likely committed crimes. She said the House committee is "going to continue to follow the facts. I think Department of Justice will do that. But they have to make decisions about prosecution."

    1. @ Yoga For The Ageless Correct. The anonymous, armchair digital heroes who wouldn’t recognize a Hero if they put a fire out inside their living room.

    2. @Gail Flanagan C mon you know that everyone here who posted he was just doing his job would have done exactly the same thing if it were them right ?

  1. What he wanted was for executive privilege to continue. As time went by, he got off on all the attention.

    1. @Smike Jasper get the praise, attention of everyone TO BE THE WORSHIPED “GOD” HAS BEEN HIS LIFETIME AMBITION, GOAL!

  2. The justice department needs to PROVE no one is above the law! Otherwise America will go to hell.

    1. @Bob Schwarz okay that still doesn’t say what new station reported it. It doesn’t have to be a liberal station which I don’t consider establishment media as liberal. So yet again where did you see it.

  3. we are obviously a nation where money puts you out of reach of at least the Civil law and mostly criminal laws (especially white collar crime). The criminal system does not exist for white collar crime for the most part. I have seen this first hand.

  4. Liz Cheney…a true American hero… thank you for your service to your country, your faithfulness to your oath of office, your unwavering stand for democracy truth and law and order…. thank you

    1. @Victor Johnson how can an elected official be criticized for upholding their oath of office and standing for the Constitution of the United States of America… give your head a shake… know what the constitution actually says…. I’m willing to guess you have never read any of the founding declarations

  5. I hate when they say “we’re a nation of laws” the law is written, interpreted, and enforced differently for different people.

    1. @L G A I can’t tell if your trying to be helpful ……
I am content with my wealth. I have what narcissist rich people don’t have so they call me mr.would you.
Sorry you wasted dad’s tuition money also.
Hope he didn’t feel much pain earning it.
      Such is life.

    2. Hello, such a shame, do you think that USA it’s a “republic” like antic Rome ? The law of antic Athena is democracy, never forget that, because Athena was the first.
And step by step 🇺🇸 ♥️ will be better.
Love for United States of North America. Staying strong and safe in the glory of God. No choice.

  6. Thankyou Liz Chaney you are amazing wonderful incredible Worldwide we are grateful you are there oh boy Thankyou!

  7. I respect her so much for doing what so many of her counterparts could not. I believe this is the best way of leaving a legacy. Like she said one day he will be gone you will have to deal with these actions.

    1. @Harold Moore no, not really ….I was amazed how many were commited to putting the handcuffs on themselves…course they are Americans
So that has to be takin into account.

  8. 🇺🇸 I have so much respect for Rep. Liz Cheney, HISTORY will remember her in a very positive way and I am thankful for her and ever member of the J/6 Committee ‼ Democracy is precious❗👍⚖

    1. She has been on the wrong side of woman’s rights, and many other issues, but on protecting Democracy from a would be King she is spot on, and one of the only elected republicans who is willing to defend our basic right to vote.

  9. Laser-focused, Liz Cheney – taking one for the country! Thank you Ms. Cheney! God bless you and we thank you for your selfless service! If your home states doesn’t appreciate you there are MANY MANY others who wish we could show you our appreciation. The J6 committee has certainly risen to the occasion and shown how aour government should work! Congress members like Jordan, MTG, Hawley, etc. need to be flushed away (since they have been exposed as being CRAP).

    1. @Marie Lucas Anyone who you disagree with you have to use the “F” word! Such a low level of intelligence!

  10. i obejct to her saying, “Pence was a hero” .. NOT because I don’t think he did the right thing, but rather, he had no legal alternative. This is like saying, “Pence is a hero for not committing burglary today…”

    1. @greaper123 Said, “I have met a few heroes in my lifetime, men and women who have risked their lives to save others without hesitation.”
By your definition, Pence qualified as one for his actions that day. He showed courage under immense pressure and threat to his life to uphold the law. Doing the right thing as expected and required isn’t always straightforward. We heard testimony from people ready to run but had to stay because Pence refused to leave the building.
As an analogy, it is a fact that taking a life is against the law. However, if you kill a person who presented a proven imminent threat to your life, you will not be charged with murder because the context that leads to a course of action matters.
None of these changes everything we know about him. A coward in one situation can be a hero in another.
Heroes can be cruel, and we have some in the history books.

    2. @Mylan Miller I’m sickened by the thought that Pence & his supporters will convince the GOP fhat he is the salvation of their party. If they can swallow tRump’s lies, they can easily dub Pence a savior.

  11. We need to be a nation of LAWS, there are political implications to everything, but we cannot allow this crime to go unanswered.

  12. An accredited university should grant Liz and selected members of the J6 Committee honorary PhDs in political science.
