Science should not be unduly hindered by efforts to corner the profitability of a new technology.
It should all be open source
@ngantnier The internet has made it so. These idiots are DYING in plain site trying to justify [their] collapsing monopoly.
Next we need to do the same for other drugs. The research is paid for by the American taxpayer, yet we pay the highest drug prices in the world. We should have a free market instead of rigged monopoly prices.
I really feel for you guys. Here in Scotland, all medication is free at source. I lost my job during covid and even though I could not pay into the system I can get all the medication I need and pay nothing at all. In some countries in Europe, you pay a small prescription fee of around $10 but then you get a months supply of whatever you need. If you are unemployed even that fee is waived. No now goes without in Europe and all medical care is free at the source.
When I read about young people dying in the USA because they cannot get insulin it is so shocking and people would go crazy if that happened here. It’s so wrong.
Do you work for free?
@YouTube Moderator do you think he does? Honestly? Nobody works for free, but healthcare should be free (as in paid through taxes) and available to everyone!
@YouTube Moderator I actually have a brain tumor, chronic cluster headaches, chronic migraines, epilepsy…I’m a medical laboratory scientist, but sadly these conditions keep me from helping during this crisis. We’re a dying breed at the core of the medical system. The brain of the industry. Without us there’s no diagnoses. Lack of quality healthcare makes it so there are longer wait times and less accurate results for everyone.
Decency is back at the helm. 👍
my body my choice ..no vac for me
In another dimension
The vaccine is for your own good.
Pfizer, Moderna have gotten tons of free advertising for their brands , they have been royally paid alReady — and the $ they used to develop it was tax payor grant money mostly as well.
@Ronald King ..and I don’t remember Obama, very late in his presidency, meddling in the affairs of the UK, whereas after the referendum, the Brexiteers relied heavily on T****’s promises of a favourable trade deal that never materialized and felt safe in stalling the negotiations with the EU until the presidential elections.
@Daye Gilharno I have read a web page at the web site of the Union of Concerned Scientists titled “The Disinformation Playbook” that describes how corporate interests have distorted science and manipulated the public discourse on matters that affect their profits. It guides my philosophy that statements and opinions of people who have a financial interest in a particular outcome should be carefully scrutinized, especially if the financial interest is not openly declared.
@Daye Gilharno “There simply is no clearly defined group of vulnerables.” Who says?
Insufficient levels of vitamin D are the major indciator of poor outcomes. Insufficient levels of vitamin D can arise from advanced age, obesity or a BMI greater than 25, darker skin especially at high latitudes, seasonal lack of high intensity sunshine and lifestyles that do not allow for exposure to high intensity (mid day) sunshine. All of these factors can be dealt with by cheap supplemental vitamin D3 and age, obesity and dark skin have all been clearly defined as vulnerabilities.
Another observation that has been made is that levels of vitamin C in seriously ill covid patients are extremely low, a deficiency that can be easily corrected by diet or supplementation. Since there has been at least one randomized clinical trial that showed that this vitamin in combination with zinc has no effect on outcomes with covid, I suppose you might classify those observations as “fringe science”. Suit yourself.
I am not a doctor but, I am guided by the opinions of doctors who subscribe to orthomolecular principles like Michael F Holick, Professor of Medicine at the Boston University School of Medicine, an expert on vitamin D. The May 5th edition of the FLCCC “Weekly Update” webinar was somewhat focused on long haul covid. It is suggested that one component of the FLCCC protocols may help with long haul symptoms. Dr. Paul Marik of the Eastern Virginia Medical School and lead researcher for the FLCCC Alliance is preparing a list of treatments for long haul covid, called the i-Recover protocol, that should be published any day now. Why don’t you keep an eye out for it and see if it might help. The testimonies of folks that have been helped by doctors following the FLCCC protocols suggests that they are doing far more good than harm . Come on. Take the red pill! (reference to a line from the movie “The Matrix”)
@Jacob Lee Who is arguing against vaccines? Certainly not the FLCCC Alliance. My argument against the current WHO program is that it has failed the millions of people that have already suffered and in some cases died. It is also doomed to fail a vast amount of vulnerable people that will contract the virus before they get a chance at vaccibation.
@Daye Gilharno “There simply is no clearly defined group of vulnerables.” That is art of a cleverly defined narrative the second part of which is that, “there are no effective treatments”. What would happen if the converse were true? What if a clearly defined set of vulnerabilities were offered along with a set of protocols for treating the vulnerable? Those who arr not vulnerable would not be scared at all and the vulnerable would feel less scared that if they contracted the virus they would die. It would be a different world, wouldn’t it?
Much love to our friends in India. 💪🏼🙌🏼🙏🏼
@Joey S. the only time that Joe Biden’s brain says anything with substances when he plagiarizing. A grown man who plays arises and gets caught more than once in college and more than once when he’s an elected official says all you need to know about the man. And if he did that when he was spry can you imagine what’s going on now behind the scenes
@tom wool well as usual you have no substance in your comment so the only thing you can do is name call and point the finger at somebody else. It’s the same game every time when the left has nothing to say they resort to name-calling. And I’m sure there is no examples that you can give for what I said
@John Larson Have a nice day. Wishing you health and happiness.
@John Larson w.r.t your India question, the one who is out of his mind is you. So you have forgotten like a pig that India exported millions of doses of hydroxychloroquinone at the beginning of this pandemic FIRSTLY to US after trumps threatening attitude towards India to send it to us first, moreover India was at surplus with ppe and masks etc than US back in mid-2020 and they send it too to US. So I dont know why are you ignorant about that.
@RainInTexas hey thank you I appreciate that you as well
👏👏👏❤❤❤😍😍😍🌹
There should be an international agreement at the UN level on vaccine development, so that no matter which country develops the needed vaccine, it will be shared at least among UN member states and the developing company is adequately compensated by all.
Finally! I make vaccines and we can’t be any more happier to hear this! Sure there will be profit mongering at some stage of the negotiations, but this is a good first step. Now we need some oversight to see it through to the end.
As long as those doing oversight are not compensated at all.
@YouTube Moderator i wish that were true, but we live in a capitalist world. Govt regulators and external oversight is what is required along with cooperation from pharmaceuticals.
@YouTube Moderator <---RUSSIAN TROLL BOT
I can’t believe it!!!
Yay!
That’s global leadership! It is not only the humane thing to do, it’s s the smartest course of action, because no country can regain normalcy and begin rebuilding its economy until this disease is eradicated and the whole world can start to heal as a whole.
Wish more people could see this point of view…
Well, it would only take one vaccine developer to share its Patent with other producers to solve the problem, right?!
Why then, countries that claims to have spare production capacity don’t produce the Indian COVAXIN®?
Why do they need the patents of all other Vacinne Developers such as J&J, Moderna, AZ, Pfizer, etc?!?!
This marks the first time the Biden admin has gone against corporate interests for the good of humanity. Well done, Joe. Very encouraging.
It’s not often that I find myself pressing the like button on a Rachael Maddow video. This is one of those times.
Most annoying host ever and the second is the guy after
👎
Thank you…. ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Rachel Anne.👋🍺.
Me, 👉proceed👈.👍☺👏👏.
Yes. The page from the recipe book is only one piece of paper. To deal with pandemics globally, the ability must be global. There are 8 billion Humans. That is a lot of us. We all need to be on the same page with regard to healthcare.
I’m falling short of words to thank you America. I’m a guide and I promise to offer my free services to any American visiting my country for the rest of my life.
@Pat Doyle it is known as “ Golden Rule.”
@Pat Doyle What a beautiful thing you just taught me! I will never forget this. I never thought I could learn something so valuable in some random comment section by someone sitting on the other side of the world. My heart is filled with respect and gratitude for your mom. What a great soul she must be! May her blessings be upon me!
Can’t wait to get out there and see your beautiful country as well as many more!
@Priscilla Robb
Yes, to a certain extent, that is true.
@Alok
Thank you.
Joe.. you are a good man with a simple soul and a heart of gold ❤️ much love from India
THIS is the kind of thing a nation must do if they want to be called leaders of the free world. Good job Joe!
No patents means no one is held accountable, this is insanity.
We had to go through the darkness to see the light. 💛✌️🙏
this is how you get “soft power” in the world while also doing something good
