I get the feeling that the president (and even the VP, or is he just being a toady?) thinks that if he is tested daily, he will be safer. He won’t be. All it does is to tell him sooner than the rest of us (what’s so special about him that he should know sooner?) that he’s sick before he feels sick. The rest of us will know sooner that he has to be isolated during his illness to protect those around him. That would be the one upside. There is no treatment, though he no doubt has stocked up on hydroxychloroquine, which will ensure he doesn’t develop malaria, for what that’s worth. The test result just gives him a longer time to fret over whether he’s going to die or survive, a 73-year old man with preexisting conditions, starting with obesity. It has nothing to do with keeping him healthy. Testing people in the White House only tells you whether the White House is a hot spot. It doesn’t tell you where the rest of the hot spots in the nation are and who should be quarantined unless you do random testing everywhere.
