    2. I know you are trying really hard to seem smart but you’re actually incredibly wrong. In America at least there’s around 14 million people between the ages of 75-84. There’s people older than that as well. I assume statistics are relatively similar across civilized nations with regards to population size so no it’s not “very few” it’s actually quite a lot

  2. A fascinating chance for people to see history occurring in the present. Also a great example of how other countries handle the death of a leader and the new leader’s role.

    3. @Joeyyy Badass You are right; we have to remember that, now. Very briefly, for the confused: Only the King and Queen are “Majesty” – all other members of the Royal Family are “Highness.” As female monarchs do not have kings by their side, only the Queen is “Her Majesty” (HM) – ie Prince Philip was “His Royal Highness” (HRH).

      BUT kings are married to queens – and, in that case, both are “Your Majesty”. This dates (I think) from medieval sexist times when, if there were a queen on the throne, her spouse could not be called “king,” as that might seem to out-rank her but a queen would never seem to out-rank a king.

      Thus we had: HM The Queen and HRH Prince Philip. Whereas, we now have HM The King and HM The Queen. (Yes, Queen Camilla is Queen-Consort, meaning she is the spouse of the monarch, not the monarch per se but the word “Consort” is only used for clarification and not as part of the address. It is especially useful at this time to differentiate Queen Camilla from the late Queen Elizabeth II but will not be used much in the future.

      (The Monarch is the one with direct linage; their spouse is not monarch).

      My deep condolences to The King and to The Royal Family. I never knew the late Queen but I miss her presence. Nonetheless, I feel confident that HM King Charles III will provide another excellent reign.

  3. I can’t think of one scandal, or bad thing ever said about Queen Elizabeth. She held the throne with class and elegance while still being a relatable woman that was just an inspiration to us all Rest In Peace Elizabeth. We will all miss you sooo much

  6. I’m an American, and that game _me_ goosebumps. Something special about watching one of the last few monarchs in the world proclaimed King. For many, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing. Although, I must say, that when they zoom out, seeing everyone with their arms in the air holding their damned smartphone almost ruined the atmosphere in a manner speaking. Lastly, the one thing we Americans do better than the British when it comes to ceremonies is that we don’t use our modern rifles, we use the M14 battle rifle. The L86A1 used by the British forces is a ridiculous-looking and god-awful weapon. All that aside, still an emotional ceremony to watch, even for us ‘across the pond’.

    4. @Seb Xiou Interestingly enough a 6 year old can go through 5 different royals in their life fairly easily and this is assuming all of them make it to 100 or around that age

  10. To think the last time all of this happened was in 1952. When majority of us here weren’t born yet, and the internet didn’t exist. Now here we are, 70 whole years later, watching behind the safety of our screens this once-in-a-lifetime historic moment as a new era for Britain begins.

    1. Yes, desperately sad as I am at the demise of Her late Majesty, the sadness is tempered with optimism for the reign of King Charles III. Of course, we cannot expect too much; he cannot control global events, nor even those in his realms and he is, of course, above party-politics. However, I think, within his spheres of influence, he will be a great force for good in terms of civility, harmony, equality and, not least, our planetary environment. Not forgetting, he is always there in case the party-political class become derailed, or appear to become so. God Save The King.

    2. @Sam Ok, let’s say they don’t generally have good genes. But rat faces? Really? Insulting them for something they have absolutely no control over? You make that comment, trying to prove a point and you start it out by sounding like some 12 year old troll. Would you like it if someone said something like that about your family? Couldn’t you have at least shown some form of civility, especially now in their time of grief? If you have nothing good to say, just don’t say anything at all.

So simply because they’re royals, you decide to just hate on them for having been born more privileged than you? How mature. And it’s called having some decency. Not because they’re royals, but because they’re also human who feel emotions like the rest of us. Is that so hard? Since you mentioned it, I would love to offer you whatever this is I’m “smoking”. I can’t guarantee it’ll work, but I think you’ll need LOTS of it to start.

    2. Well you never know. King Charles is going to be 74 in November so maybe he will live to be 100 and make it to a bit over 25 yrs as King. I am two years older than him and I sure don’t want to live to be 100. While I do not live in the land of Kings and Queens I am watching Game of Thrones now and I find that interesting. Best wish’s to King Charles and his family. I hope William and Harry will get along now and Harry and his family move out of my state and move back to England.

  20. This signals the end of the era, things will change very quickly. When my grandmother died she was the last matriarch of my family. She was the glue that kept us together. The younger women do not want the job and Thanksgiving and Christmas are not the same. Remember how it was because things will change. Greatness is earned so Chuck will never be on any coins or bills. How did it feel to be reined over by a queen? I did not notice. Things will change now and now I will notice.
